apparently quite slow - read the comments in http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/74080
It is slow but for me speed isnt an issue. Reliability and storage space is. I'll happily copy over the files and then walk away from the computer for a while. On my 16GBer it takes about an hour to fill up.
It's significant to me. Copying a 1 or 2GB video file to one of these things is painful. If you use this flash drive often, you will literally save hours of your life buying a flash drive that's 5x faster like the Patriot Quad-channels. Definitely worth an extra $10-15 to me.
Very slow and very fast
Very confusing statement
Bought this one awhile ago last time. Yeah its speed is a little slow but I'm happy with its performance. Might pick one up for my parents.
How come USB 3.0 flash drives are not ubiqitous yet?
Because its still an emerging technology in our households. Not many people have systems that use the new 3.0 system, so why would they waste money mass producing when consumers will not know the difference?
I also think manufacturers and larger companies prevent the progress of such technology intentionally to give it a longer life in the industry, allowing them to charge a premium price for longer to those ahead of the curve. I could rant on, but essentially that's why they are not ubiquitous in my opinion.
Picked up a Patriot USB3.0 32GB drive from MSY yesterday for $31.
Very happy with that.
All the Sandisk flash drives I've used are slow.
I'm using the Sandisk Cruzer Blade 16gb, although I'm happy with it as speed isn't an issue, it is rather slow.
Very slow from all reports, but with the amount of data on flash drives, even 32gb ones, I can't see that the difference between very slow and very slow has much real world significance.
