About PowerGuard:
PowerGuard is a brand of surge protectors and power strips. Surge protectors are devices that are designed to protect electronic equipment from damage caused by voltage spikes or surges. They work by diverting excess voltage away from connected devices and into the ground, which helps to prevent damage to sensitive electronic components. PowerGuard surge protectors are designed to provide protection for a wide range of electronic devices, including computers, TVs, home theater systems, and other appliances. They are available in a variety of styles, including wall-mounted, strip-style, and portable models, and are typically used to protect against power surges and spikes that can occur due to lightning, power outages, or other electrical events.

  • PLUS $25 shipping???

  • Need to share the clamping time, clamping voltage and joule rating, otherwise somewhat meaningless
    EDIT: OK found the data:

clamping voltage: 275v - very good
reaction time 1-3 ns - too slow - under 1ns required
    joule rating: 570j. Too little
2000+ joules recommended for effective protection of sensitive electronics

    • Thanks King Tightarse. What kind of price range would a surge protector be that meets those needs? And any chance of a brand/product suggestion? Thanks!

      • Sorry haven't bought any for a while - I still have a few DSE branded ones I picked up when they got sold cheap
If you have electronics you are about, getting as close as possible to the above three metrics is what you need to look for
So many 'surge protectors' are effectively useless

  • Ozbargain not NZbargain.. presume we have different standards in Australia for electrical products as well
