Yup. Seems the 8 pack is much better value than the 4 pack
Got this. Thanks!
Any good chargers for these batteries
Thanks
Which ones better the quick or the overnight charger?
The quick one is better, as there is overcharge protection, while the overnight one will continue charging the battery even when fully charged.
(the LED on the overnight charger is based off of a timer, which is how the charger works (It doesn't detect the capacity of batteries when you put them in, and will charge regardless of percentage))
Quick one also comes with bad battery detection (i.e stops charging if battery is completely dead/non rechargeable battery to prevent explosions)@DogeConomy: Thanks for the detailed comment! Going to get the quick charger instead.
@DogeConomy: Are you sure it's based on a timer? I though it was based on the measured resistance in the battery, as my similar ancient charger will report old batteries charged much faster than new ones.
It's criminal they still sell these dumb chargers, they should be banned
@Jackson: yes I am sure, look up the model number on the second photo https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0779MZ1WH/
The overnight charger's model number is BQ-CC51.
According to the surprisingly well maintained wiki page, it is a dumb charger that charges for 13 hours straight. (ctrl+f "BQ-CC51" to skip to that section)
Manual for more infoQuote from the manual (it only cuts off at 13 hours, which is an hour longer than the maximum capacity rated on the table, so if you had a bunch of batteries that were half full, it'd over charge them by at least over 50%):
4) After charging time, shown in Table 1, unplug the charger from the AC outlet and remove the batteries.
For your own safety, this charger has an automatic cut off function after approximately 13 hours.
However the charging times shown in Table 1 are recommended for longer battery life.@Jackson: Here's a panasonic article to back my post up (model numbers are listed in the bucket analogy graphic near the bottom of the page):
https://www.panasonic.com/global/energy/products/eneloop/en/…@DogeConomy: Fair enough, it's criminal they still make these. It's no use to buy expensive multi use batteries when instead of getting 500 charges out of them you might get say 30 (?) if you are lucky
Nitecore d4 chargers can be had for about $30 and are fantastic, I think they are better than the Panasonic charger linked in the other suggestion.
I spent way too much time on subreddits researching this and this was definitely the agreed best charger. I'm sure my Xbox controllers can really tell the difference too!
cant find in the 30s. on sale?
Dunno about right now but they drop to low 30s when on sale
I feel obligated to drop the magical word ‘ladda’
It comes up in every Eneloop post.
Ladda! 🤣🤣🤣
It's like me reminding people of the eufy camera security issue on every eufy camera post…lol
What security issue?
the one no one cares about
Thumbnail images to their cloud servers… Doesn't really matter to me
Well, surely you don't want your raunchy pic pressing the door bell sent to them…unless it's just me….
@BigLeviathan: It's not like I'm out there doing personal stuff. It's tradesman, postman delivery guys and pedestrians for me on my floodlight
Facebook, twitter, instagram are probably doing more harm than good if you care about privacy
@neonlight: Right? I mean it's good that 'security' flaws etc are found and called out. But in the scheme of things it ain't too big a deal. That Optus data breach for example is much more significant. So are all your tagged photos on Facebook.
@neonlight: It's not just that. They are creating a unique hash key for each face they identify for their facial recognition software, and that hash key allows them to track the movement and location of any person who steps in front of any EUFY camera, whether a customer or not, this problem also isn't just on their front door cams, it's on all of their cameras which may well be used inside people houses as they were expecting them to be safe and secure.
On top of this, they don't encrypt the live feed of your camera to the cloud, it's just a "security by obscurity" solution that is a randomly generated URL. If someone finds that URL, which while not an easy task, definitely isn't as hard as trying to crack a properly encrypted feed, then anyone can watch a live feed of your camera.
😝😝
Can these be stored for a few years without losing the max capacity?
nope, just like any other battery. time and temperature works against it.
Not really, all batteries degrade over time. Note also that the Eneloop Pro series is designed more for higher-drain devices, so they self-discharge more quickly too. If you want to store them for longer or if you mostly use low-drain devices like remote controls, clocks etc, buy the regular Eneloop batteries, not the Pro ones.
Thanks, it was time to replenish my dwindling stash due to batteries lost in long forgotten kids toys.
I have a piece of paper in the box of batteries with everything that an eneloop is in so I know where they all are!
Big brain mode engaged!
Does anybody here know the difference between the regular chargers and the 'pro' charger?
Dang, even cheaper than Black Friday? I feel ripped off…
(referring to the 8-pack double a's, and my triple a order got cancelled by Aramex for no reason so it's not as bad as it could've been)
Surely i have to cap off 2022 with some eneloops. Thanks op
Bought pack of 8 AA couple of days back for $44 :-(
I have this battery charger. Can anyone please advise if I can charge these batteries with this charger?
https://www.amazon.com.au/LiitoKala-Lii-402-Universal-Rechar…
Yes you can. I use one of these and a xtar VC4S no prpblem
Thank you
WIth Subscribe and Save order, can you subscribe for it and cancel it after the first order and still be entitle to the discounted price?
Yes
Yep, cancel the subscription after you receive the order, it's the OzBargain way :)
How frequently are OzBargainers replacing your Eneloops/Laddas? Is there a way to tell when is a good time?
When they don't hold charge anymore
Thanks bought 2
Haven't been so excited with eneloops since my kids gone through AA like no tomorrow with their toys…tiem to upgrade from the Ikea version
Aren't they the same thing though?
Who knows eh.. It did say made in Japan. That itself is enough to convince me it's better I guess. Or maybe I just like black color more. Haha
Bought! Thanks OP!
Is it bad for these batteries if they're placed in an item with non-rechargeables? (eg 4 Eneloops and 1 Aldi AA battery in an R/C car)
Don't mix batteries. I can't emphasize this enough. Regardless of types. Always stick with same brand and new - don't mix used and new
A side note, rechargeables are 1.2v and alkalines are 1.5v
Get 12 Eneloop and charge some while using others :) More fun with R/C
What about mixing Eneloops with Eneloop Pros?
For R/Cs you'll get more power and performance out of Eneloop Pros. I wouldn't even bother with the standard Eneloops. And by mixing em you'll just get less of both. I really haven't found a use for white Eneloops outside of led light toys and computer mice. Stick with the Pros!
Genius delivery driver left it in the sun instead of the porch. Batteries were scorching when I opened it - should I ask for an exchange or she'll be right?
Stick to the old saying- "better safe than sorry"
but since eneloop batetries are able to tolerate extreme temperatures (even operating in sub-zero temps), you should theoretically be fine-ish*. Ni-MH batteries regularly get to 50*C through charging them.Yeah I might get it changed, it was in the sun for about 5 hours and it was 30+ degrees all day
Would these be ok for solar garden lights?
Gone back up, damn too much procrastination.
Thanks!
AA 8-pack is a good price with S&S.
