Ryobi 18V ONE+ 125mm Grinder 5.0Ah R18AG15 Kit $179 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ Bunnings

160

Hi, first time poster, and could not find this using google or the search function.

125mm Angle Grinder R18AG15 model and 5.0Ah battery with charger. The R18AG1 model in it's own retails for $169. So $10 gets you a 5.0Ah battery and a charger.

I'm tempted, but looking at the more powerful $239 RAG18X (well, I think more powerful? Can't find the rating for it, only that it can go to 9200RPM rather than this model's 9000RPM.

$179 is the normal price on the Ryobi website.

This kit will be temporary - when I saw it in Bunnings, it was marked down from $199. Currently multiple stores no longer have it, so I still feel this is ozbargain worthy :o)

Also, Ryobi/Bunnings frequently have kits that are a temporary thing, like the $249 brad nailer and 4.0Ah battery and charger kit they no longer sell, against the tool only that retails for $269. (I'm looking for one BTW, so if anyone has one in the Sydney area that is BNIB, hit me up lol).

Ryobi often drops the price on their site when Bunnings does.
As OP stated this kit was $199.

I'm tempted to go the 125mm Ryobi so you get a brushless motor, I've given mine a bit of work and whoa it's built up a lot of dust or muck from the brushes.
But I just noticed they do not mention brushless for this particular model so I'm assuming it's just a larger capacity disc and that's all

  • Angle grinder skin only was down to ~$90 at my local Bunnings but only a few were left.

    • Was it the 125 or 115mm?

The new HP brushless 125mm model is significantly more powerful and easier to use than the older models when equipped with a battery that can support the draw of the tool.
Can make a big difference depending on what you are doing with the grinder - if its just tiny little jobs and you don't mind taking the extra time with the less powerful model then its not going to be an issue.

    • Is there much difference in performance between a 2Ah & 4Ah battery or is it more noticeable as the charge declines?

      • I would put the 4AH as the bare minimum for using this kind of tool as it will drop a 2ah battery to cut off voltage pretty quickly. I would suggest a 6ah or 9ah battery with these as they contain 2/3 strings of cells and can keep up with high current demands of the more power hungry tools like grinders / cut off tools etc.

  • Anyone have any experiences of the R18AG1 model in this kit against the (likely) more powerful RAG18X model?
