Archie Rose Signature Dry Gin $58.95 (Membership Required) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Dan Murphy's

680

This deal is back. Google cache says it was $75 yesterday. I think they're price matching Vintage cellars' one day deal where they are selling it for $59 if you prefer https://www.vintagecellars.com.au/spirits/archie-rose-signat…

Not aware of other offers (no significant cashback available on Dan's or VC)

Keen to hear other people's thoughts on this item.

  • Anyone tried to contact a store by phone lately? Join the online bot queue because we aren't answering any calls. You are number 98…. in the queue.

I simply wanted to find out if the award winning Kangaroo Island O'gin was now on the shelves as promised by an in-store rep on Monday. Stock numbers showed 12 but none on shelves. Store assistant said they were probably on a loading pallet somewhere and to try again today. Lol, cs which used to be good ime has been jettisoned.

Automated call answering and queues are like a trojan horse which presented itself as a catalyst for better customer service but over time it has turned into a huge pain in the b*tt for consumers

  • What's everyone's go to for cocktails with this as base?

    (other than the obvious G+T).

    • +1

I like the bee's knees, gimlet and sunflower. Negroni and Martini are popular choices too. But if this is as good as everyone says then it should prob be served on the rocks!

Might sound elitist, but for nicer gins like this, I stick to Gin & Soda so I can actually taste it.

If I'm mixing it with other flavours, I might as well save $30 and get Gordon's etc.

      • +2

Because this isn't a flavoured Gin, you wouldn't get a lot of flavour from the Gin itself (you would still taste it, but you would likely probably taste the fruit or other additions a bit more).
You can even do a Gin and Sonic (half-soda, half-tonic) that way you can get the flavour of a good tonic (like a Fever Tree) and the Gin flavour.
As for other drinks, I would say something like a Pomegranate-based spritz, or something with that sort of tart flavour would go well with this. I also love a good classic of citrus with soda/tonic and ice.

  • Can anyone give a rundown of this v Four Pillars rare dry gin?

    • +1

Similarly good, in my experience. Can't go wrong with either.

    • +2

I feel like this is made by Gin lovers, whereas Four Pillars, although pretty established, don't take any risks with flavour. All in all, very smooth Gin.
