Big W says it's on sale, but is that a good price? Or is that a good grinder? Dunno.

In that price range, I don't think there's anything that beats the breville smart grinder pro

Yup - quick google shows it's pretty subpar when compared https://thecoffeepost.com.au/sunbeam-em0700-vs-breville-smar…

This machine is a sprayer. Without physically screening the chute it's impossible to avoid getting grounds all over the bench top, which makes it quite irritating to use.

      • Thanks for the heads up!

    • Are you and jv twins?

      • Nah, he's just the local ozbargain troll

Based on the comments above, this one sprays while nothing beats Smart Gronder Pro in the price range.

Cannot comment on this one, but I've had the Breville for 5 years pulling 2-6 coffees per day (average about 3.5-4) and it hasn't missed a beat. Keep it clean and use good beans and it just gets S done.

      You just did

      • I know… Commented on the deal, not the item. Should have specified.

        Pedant off begin… FIGHT!

    • What do you do to keep it clean?

      • The burr needs to be cleaned with the included brush.

Pretty much what they said… Remove the burrs, bush with a stiff brush (toothbrush or similar it doesn't have to be the included one) and blast the system with compressed air. Final dust off with lint free cloth. I only do this every couple of months.

Also, listen for weird noises when grinding and attend to this immediately by doing the above. Just in case some snoozer decided to sell you some gravel for the cost of beans.

I used one of these for 4 years until upgrading to the mighty DF64.

I'd describe it as inconsistent - it was capable of producing a good shot, but I spent a huge amount of time chasing my tail trying to dial it in. It's very sensitive to the level in the hopper.

You could do a lot worse, but I'd probably take the Breville over it.

    • I had the Breville for about a year and a half before buying a Robot to make espresso. Could not get a good shot. Upgraded to a Mignon and found out that these types of grinder, with cast burrs and plastic construction, are complete junk.
