I dont think they would be 50 50 qt this price. Im tempted.
That's pretty accurate. It's a coinflip whether your phone will come with no issues or be your most frustrating phone ever. Plenty of people have zero issues but the horror stories on r/GooglePixel put me off.
Sure but the subreddit for AAWireless would have put me off buying that too, and it's a great product.
People are far more likely to post about complaints than about successes.
I'm no expert but afaik on release the phones had a number of issues widely reported by users. My understanding is most of them were fixed via updates. In regard to the reviews it may be worth looking at the more recent ones and possibly disregarding the older ones as many of the concerns from launch are not relevant since the updates
I got one about a month ago in the UK coming from a Xiaomi Poco F3 5G - Smartphone 8+256. I gotta say, the Poco did everything better besides the camera. I'm not impressed with the Pixel, charging is slow, battery doesn't last under heavy use, finger print scanner is sloooow. Doesn't have expandable storage or dual SIM capability. Does wireless charger (unlike the Poco). The camera is good but with all the compromises I don't think it's worth it. Think I'll try a Samsung next time.
Agree with battery not being great. It's good… Not great.
Charging is good but you need to use one of those crazy 60w PD chargers. Finger print scanner had another update a week ago and it's improved further. You need to make sure you don't use a glass screen protector (needs to be one of the film based ones) for it to work properly. Dual SIM works but one needs to be esim.
The overriding reason for buying a Pixel is #1 the software - NO bloatware. #2 on time upgrade schedule in line with general Android release #3 the camera
It won't charge faster than 23w no matter what charger you use. It's the slowest charging of any flagship phone on the market, including iPhone.
The overriding reason for buying a Pixel is #1 the software - NO bloatware
That's not true at all, its full of Goggles stuff you can't remove (I had a P6 Pro but it was too frustrating and got rid of it after 3 months) .I don't use any Google software aside from the Playstore that I can think of. Most of my stuff comes from FStore (email, maps, fitness tracker, keyboard, Mastodon client, Newpipe etc etc etc) and I use FF as my browser. I am not sure how they get away with it, as MS faced all sorts of lawsuits years ago over uninstallable software.
I think the Google stuff is good. You're use case is very different to 99% of Android users to be fair!
@Dapper: Yea I agree with this. I personally use Google Drive, Docs, Photos, Lens, Assistant, Calendar, Gmail, News , Wallet, Earth, YouTube, Files. There are definitely more Google apps I use although I own a OnePlus so I'm not sure if they come pre-installed with a Pixel.
Surely they use at least a few of these? YouTube? Gmail?
Still fixing something as basic as a finger print reader 2 months after release?
How was the poco overall? Why are you looking to change? I only ask because im on samsung and thinking about changing to a higher spec loco or xiaomi phone. Battery life and headphone jack is the main reasoning
I had a 6 Pro, used ti fro 3 months and got rid of it, found it too infuriating to use 9my previous Google phone was a Nexus 5). Got a Samsung 22u, much better but still annoying as it lacks SD storage and no headphone jack. It has a single physical SIM and a second e-sim and I love having a stylus (my phone before the Pixel Pro 6 was a Galaxy Note 9 with a stylus, SD exapansion and earphone jack)
I have used all 3 brands recently (Xiaomi, pixel and Samsung) and I think you would still be disappointed if you went with Samsung when it comes to battery. In my opinion, no other phone can match the battery life that Xiaomi phones currently offer. My biggest gripe with Xiaomi was the camera quality. The difference in camera quality between Xiaomi vs Pixels is day and night.
Pixel has dual sim - 1 x physical, 1 x eSIM.
I had this phone with no issues.
The battery life for me was one of the best of all the nexus/pixel phones I've had and I've had them all and was always unhappy with the battery life of previous phones. The only reason I changed to a P7 Pro is due to the Google credits that were available and allowed me to get a 6a for the Mrs for $130. If not for that I'd be happy with the 6 Pro for another 2 to 3 years imo. I felt little to no upgrade difference between the two that I'd be mad if I had paid full price for the upgrade.
At this price, I'd Definitely recommend to anyone who is on the fence about its
Same with me. Got the Pixel 7 Pro for not much more. $640 + $300 trade in for pixel 6 Pro. AND $300 credit from Google to use in their store. The Pixel 7 Pro is much better.
In what way is it better?
Better quality photos (optical zoom, macro, ultrawide), much better quality videos (+ the addition of cinematic mode), more efficient processor (doesn't suffer from overheating under load therefore better battery life), improved fingerprint sensor + face unlock, faster processing when using AI features
@Dapper: Is this all noticeable ? I feel for photos the 6 is really good and just incremental change. I almost went for a 7 but with the updates and battery saver mode I don't have overheating anymore
Why does she not get the pro and you the 6a?
She hates bigger phones. I got her the 6pro initially and she said it was too big for her pockets/purse etc. So I used it
bro, you are suppose to go into an anti-woke rage
@CptnObvious: Your name gave away the game 😝
How was your SOT?
About 5 to 6 hrs usually. Similar to the 7 pro now
Not too bad actually
Pixel 7 is $214 more than this at rrp. It goes on sale too
Not the 7 pro
Is the 6 pro better than the 7?
Bigger battery, better resolution, missing a telephoto lense, 90Hz vs 120Hz
Older pros tend to be better than newer base models. iPhone 13 / 12 / 11 Pro and Pro Max are better than iPhone 14 and 14 Plus in the factors that matter to me.
I personally wouldn't get the Pixel 6 Pro though, think the 7 and 7 Pro are more polished products.
I would avoid this like a plague, the battery power and QA is terrible. Received mine from Telstra, a tiny ding on my phone screen out of the box, had to go hoops and loops to get it replaced. And the battery was awful.
had to go hoops and loops to get it replaced.
Really? Not this phone but last time I got something damaged from Telstra, I just took it in store and they replaced it on the spot.
I went to the shop but because I bought it from online, they told me I had to wait for it replaced from the warehouse. But that was the launch week though back then, so stock level was very scarce. Very annoying calling back and forth to get it sorted.
Pre-ordered mine and have had it for over 12 months now. Battery life is still good and quick as it was on day one. I use the camera lots for work and it takes good quality shots for text and detail.
Had a colleague whose partner had a buggy 6 Pro, had a return done and now all good. I hear those who have had the problems, but personally have had a great experience. Going to keep running this one until a step up in tech from Pixel or another Android phone.I have this phone, I'm quite happy with mine with no issues other than the lackluster fingerprint reader which was improved with software but still not as good as prior pixels
It seems so weird to buy a flagship with glaring faults each generation, which reading above seems to be the fingerprint reader
Never had any problems with these phones, so im happy to stick with them. I don't buy a new phone every year and didn't buy a 6, though. I guess I'm just buying all the good ones.
Other devices have no community support.
Typing this on my Google Pixel Pro 6… It's not worth it. Gotta be the worst battery life I've ever had on a phone. All the supposed workarounds are mostly turning off major selling points of the phone.
I have mine on battery saver mode all the time. Seems to be the best way but yeah kinda pointless having power if you can't use it.
I'm really only on it for the camera anyway
So wierd for a flagship to have such mixed reviews. WTF are they doing? Just closing their eyes and chucking them into boxes and hoping for the best??
Had the Pixel 6 Pro for over a year now, not as good as I was hoping it to be. It's my second ever android after Huawei Mate 20 Pro which was amazing, but Pixel is slow at times, battery/fast charging could be better.
I'll probably keep it for another year but I'm thinking of going back to iPhone after this.
Bought one, broke its screen after 6 months and it costs 600$ to replace the screen.
Any 256 GB please?
Avoid this..Xiaomi phones are better if you are still importing. Otherwise I'll rather get a localstock at discount
What Xiaomi price is better for the price?
FYI the feature on the 7 pro that let's you reduce the screen resolution is coming to the pixel 6 pro in a few months to help with battery life
I'm genuinely curious, has it been shown to improve battery life materially? I think in the past, the commentary was that all the pixels on the screen are still on so you're mainly saving on the GPU processing power and not the screen battery (which is the bigger hitter). As I said, curious to know
Tbh I wouldn't have a clue. I've had the downscaled res down on my pixel 7 pro and I've noticed the battery life is better than my old 6 pro, but there's other factors to consider since it's a different phone. Others may be able to shed light on it in better detail.
Does anyone have experience with Google Duplex in Australia (where the phone will say, call a restaurant and make a reservation)? Does it work well? Do you use it regularly or is it more of a gimmick?
Think that's been depcreated and, at least with the last Pixel I had (4 and 3) never functioned in Australia at all - unfortunately there are a number of features, like call screen that were never rolled out to the Australian market.
Just like Google's (atrocious) local customer support, they're not really setup to deal with features or customer support in Australia in the same way that a Apple or Samsung is.
Apparently you can get the assistant to book tables for you. Looks like it will look for online booking platfroms first before calling. I Just checked on my 7 and the prompt works. Although don't be surprised if getting the assistant to call a restaurant doesn't work, if I answered the phone and a robot was talking to me I'd just hang up.
Call screen has also been here for a while now (like over a year), works fine.

is 7 pro not worth 200 dollars more?
Have used this phone for 3 months and although it's not perfect, I've had no major issues and I'm loving it. Definitely nothing similar to all the issues reported by other users. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones…
Bought it mainly for the cameras, and I love the telephoto lens and the overall photo quality, it's probably second to none? But I do hate the 2x digital zoom (inferior photo quality), so I don't use it. Also, I think the video recording could definitely improve, as it seems sluggish sometimes.
Overall a good solid photo and I'm quite happy with it.
Whoa it's not 2x digital zoom, it's proper name is Super Res Zoom
/s
But yes haven't had much luck with that feature either
Why are people willing to pay $700 for whittakers chocolate block
Price match OW?
Nah. Has to be au stock. They won't price match offshore phones.
No worries. Thankyou
Dam reviews of it on amazon are 50/50
