2 for $1.75 from Kmart for generic tongs. Why would you want branded tongs?

Never owned any OXO stuff I take it?

      • +1

Their stock cubes are OK, but kind of fake being yeast-based, not from meat.

BTW the equivalent (good) tongs at Kmart cost $3.50, so 4X as much at the ones GP linked :-)

        • +1

The two brands are wholly unrelated

I've started to really dislike generic tongs, they're never at a standard that allows them to last more then a couple of months/year of use. I have a few of the Kmart ones above and I usually have to be careful or else I'd risk getting a cut on an edge.

The Oxo ones feel so solid to use and don't flex when gripping heavy items.

    • +1

Mini tongs less of an issue but still, watch the cheap tongs bend when you try and lift anything with a bit of weight

Much prefer a Wiltshire classic than a Kmart cheapie: https://www.bigw.com.au/product/wiltshire-classic-mini-tongs…

      • agree, much prefer the square tong holder to the push pull lock.

        • ikr these people must not cook much. 1 hand operation is better than these push/pull lock tongs that require 2 hands to operate and even on the really long bbq versions id still prefer the cheaper square ring ones due to muscle memory.

    • If you have used Oxo Tongs compared to the cheap generic ones, you will understand. I honestly get frustrated whenever I use non Oxo tongs as they really are that much better.

    • These are %&$# in my opinion. Pinch your fingers better than they pinch food.

    • Why did you buy Bose headphones when you could have gotten them at Kmart for $40 ?

Looks like this is essentially the regular price on Amazon according to 3x camels

    • Doesn’t look like anyone has bought at “full price”

  • +2

Do these fail at the hinge like most tongs?

    • +5

No! They have stainless steel rivets, the cheap ones have aluminium which corrodes in dishwasher.
These grip food better, stay aligned and don't disintegrate in the dishwasher, well worth the money.

Bought 2. I've been looking for some good mini tongs so really hoping these are good considering the price!

Hate cheap tong open unnecessarily wide for how big they are

    Full size on sale too

If you like grip, they also have:

    9-INCH for $12
    https://amzn.asia/d/7JRYqFd

    12-INCH for $13
    https://amzn.asia/d/dMAvZ6c

I am talking about tongs here. 9 inch and 12 inch tongs.

  • Anyone got suggestions of silicone ended ones that are good for non stick but also ok for the dishwasher?

    • Dreamfarm Clongs are my favourite tongs, pricey but great.

      • Thanks. I might give these a try (as they seem the best otherwise) but they are nylon head ones, not silicone.

        • Joseph Joseph from bigw

    • Try this:
      https://www.amazon.com.au/Joseph-Elevate-Steel-Slimline-Tong…

It is not made of silicone (JJ does have a silicone version of this though), but the tips of the tongs are so smooth to the point it is virtually non-scratch and provide much greater grabbing/gripping power compared to a pair of silicone tongs. The "elevate" feature is nice and it blends in very smoothly with the Joseph Joseph Elevate Carousel. (Of course, you would have to remove one of the original pcs)

      It is my favourite tongs.
