You know you're rich when you buy a sink for your sink

      sinkception

  • Better than the JJ Duo version

  • +1

Is this for people without a sink? Or maybe people that have only one sink in the kitchen?

Other than that, if you are buying this, go and have a chat with yourself in the mirror before doing so.

    • +4

They are generally for people who want a portable sink option, like for camping, although for camping there are collapsible alternatives which are easier to transport.

    • +2

I've been using the other model to hand wash baby clothes. Our laundry sick is used to clean the cats bowl or other stuff thats yucky, so it can get quite gross. This way I dont need to deep clean it every second day.

Our laundry sick is used to clean… it can get quite gross

        No kidding!

When I initially saw it, I thought it was a sink to take camping. But the description states it's a sink to put in a sink. Why would you need that? Is it like buying a iPad to place in front of you TV to shows, so you don't burn your LEDs out?

    • +2

There is possibly some value in using less water for a small volume of dishes, rather than filling the whole sink …will get colder quicker though….

    • +3

Maybe you can soak stuff in this but then move it out of the way to rinse a plate or wash off some veggies?

Not sure if I want to sink my money into this when I already have one in the kitchen.

If I buy this, will it be money down the drain??

    • Haha yes.. It doesn't make sense.

    • +3

Yes will be a big strain on your finances

    • It's a high yield investment.

      When I read sinking I think about…

      Mayday, Mayday, we are sinking!

Hello, this is German coastguard. What are you sinking about?

  • +7

I visited my partner's family in the UK earlier this year and was surprised to see these in almost every kitchen sink. I asked about them and no two people could give me a consistent (or particularly convincing) rationale for their existence.

    • What were some of the responses?

    • It's pretty common. I was surprised not to see it when I moved here. Others may have different reasons, but my family has always used these to allow you to soak dishes or leave enough to make cleaning them worthwhile without having to put the plug in. That way you can still use the kitchen tap for water without the sink filling up; something which seems a greater risk here as so many sinks seem to not have an overflow outlet.

  • What did Elon say when his JJ Dishwashing Bowl delivery arrived?

    "Let that sink in!"

  • +2

Purpose is likely to reduce water usage - my mum used to do this to this with just a regular run of the mill tub, it noticeably reduced our water usage.

    • +4

One other thought is then to capture the dish water to water plants or similar

    • A bucket would be cheaper but yeah ideally you want two pots.

One soap and one hot for rinsing.

  • Better design that one advertised before, which I got and using daily now. Good when you've got only 1 big sink or no dishwasher

  • +5

What is the point of this product?

  • +3

    Let that sink in ….

  • +1

Buy now, add a kitchen sink later?

  • +3

Thanks. Let me sink about it.

  • +3

    Why?

  • This is for something to be washed but not easy to take out of the sink. Like a watermelon.

  • Would be good for the mud kitchen for the kiddos

  • +2

Modern double sinks are huge and ours is brass too so better for water reduction and also for protecting a new or expensive sink from rough edges of large items like griddle pans, woks etc.

  • I don’t sink so.

  • +1

I'd find this very useful for washing baby bottles etc which I don't want mixing in the same sink where raw meat and other stuff ends up. Plus the normal sink is huge and you waste a lot of water if you fill it for small loads of dishes.

I bought this one a while ago - much cheaper at $9.50 and good enough for me (doesn't have the extra side bit though, but is collapsible for easier storage).
