Ooni Koda 12 Pizza Oven $527.20 (RRP $659) Delivered @ David Jones

Good deal for those that missed out on Black Friday deals like myself.

Cheaper than current Anaconda deal ($599), but has been cheaper recently admitedly. Now Roccbox's are sold out till Feb, doubt Ooni's will go on special again soon.

    10% price beat at anaconda

    • Yeah true, but the price beat is only available in the physical stores. For people not near a physical store and online is only option, the deal including express delivery is still good

Plus get the Anaconda gift cards from Coles for further 15% off. $403.30. Maybe I need one!

    fantastic pizza oven.

  • Anyone tried that ~$180ish Salter Pizza over from Bunnings?

    • +2

Totally different oven, Koda is gas, and Salter is pellet, which is very challenging to keep fire on and cook pizza at same time. With pellet, less control of heat/fire.

Go the Arrosto from BBQs Galore if you want basically the same as an Ooni on the cheap, makes great pizza.

      • Mate from work has the Arristo and rates it well. I looked at one in the flesh last week and wasnt overly impressed (seemed smaller entrance than the Ooni). $399 normal price, have seen it down to $315 on specially which would be a good buy for essentially the same thing.

Im going for a Gozney Dome when we finish the outdoor area, so I did consider resale value of the Ooni being a factor in paying a bit extra.

i got one a few weeks ago, and i've used it a few times.

IMO it's an ok way to get in to the whole standalone pizza oven scene.
I'm finding the pellet hopper at the back is smaller than what I need to crank out pizzas/flat breads one after the other after the first 2-3.

First couple of times I overfilled the hopper and so it would end up with smoldering lit pellets which, to be fair, do give off a fair bit of heat. however you'd really want the pellets to be on fire so that the flames roll along the top of the interior so as to heat the stone as well as cook the top of the pizza.

The air intake holes at the back of the hopper are a tad small so i've taken to leaving the pellet hopper not fully pushed in so as to get more airflow. But I do have to be careful for the flames shooting out the back when opening the door.

All in all, it does cook quickly when at the proper temp and the hopper isn't overfilled. I can crank out "cheat" naan bread in around about a minute (20-30 secs each side) and a pepperoni pizza in a 2-3 minutes.
