This or Samsung s95b?
The picture is better on the s95b but the build quality on the Samsung is rubbish
What makes you say the build quality is bad, I have one and think it is pretty good?
When your panel is 4mm thin, it leads to bent panels either straight from the box or while setting it up.
There’s plenty of reports of people on their nth panel within weeks.
If you have young kids, a couch cushion throw could have your tv get a nice bend
If you don’t have kids and don’t want to wall Mount, I the s95b is a great set. If you’re looking to wall Mount - the lg g2 might be a better bet, especially with LG’s 5 year warranty and 10 years of oled experience
@jztilly: @ideasman unless I am mistaken, or have misread the LG Australian website, the 65" oled the warranty is
5 Year Panel Warranty only,
otherwise
Warranty Period
1 Year - Parts and Labour
In the UK it is 5 years warranty
@jztilly: I second ideasman, he speaks the truth. I have recently bought two OLEDs a S95B 65" and a LG CS 55". The LG slaughters, the Samsung, for build quality, slaughters it. And the part that gets me most, is I 'know' the S95B is the best on the market (arguably Sony A95K's processing, etc, personal preference), but the LG CS (a C1 with a C2 processor), is so good, if I knew the dramas I'd have putting the S95B together, and how close a CS was, not that it existed when I was purchasing but, I think I would've been really really happy with a 65 or 77 CS.
I second the advice as well, spot on imo. Samsung, don't make them thin, you're not at that level and it's super annoying, copy a G1 chassis next time, please.
Mid range WOLED vs QD-OLED. Probably go the s95b, but look at reviews.
S95B is good over this one
S95b could be had for like 2400 a few weeks ago .. not sure right now though
From where?
It was $2804 last week using a 15% voucher from Samsung
Samsung was giving 30% off vouchers for black Friday.. i got a 75 q90b instead of the 65 s95…
It was posted multiple times but the mods here took it all down.. not sure why
@hippyhippy: The 30% vouchers were only for qleds, they only gave 15% for the qd-oleds
Samsung not supporting Dolby Vision is a deal-breaker for me, which is offered by the majority of streaming services including:
Netflix
Amazon Prime Video
Disney+
Apple TV+
HBO Max
Paramount+
I watched Dune in Dolby Vision on HBO Max recently and the picture quality was phenomenal.
They’ll all still provide HDR via HDR10 so it’s not a big deal
I've seen this opinion before, and it's fair enough if you're really hardcore into lots of Dolby Vision content, I haven't watched a single movie I'm aware of with it.
The panel itself though is 'more' important, imo, than the dynamic HDR of Dolby Vision.
I got this TV in the Black Friday Sales. It's F#@$#&ng phenomenal and the fact it has a 4k Google TV built in was the decider for me. The Samsung S95B is Quantum Dot OLED which is the newest OLED technology which only Samsung and Sony currently have in the S95B and A95K. If you can find a S95B for this price and don't want the Google TV UI then that would be a better deal. But this TV is insanely good on its own merits.
Got the 65" for my parents as well. Had a look at the Samsung @ the good guys and the general appearance of it looks crap in comparison (build quality, frame & stand). They didn't want to mount it so the ugly stand was a deal breaker I think.
The Sony looks so good I need to get myself one now, although I want larger than 65" :o
Thanks for sharing! It's the same price at Sony and with a 6% cashback (at the time of this post), it comes to $2,815.30.
