This is the cheapest I have seen this Samsung Galaxy Tablet. I cannot tell whether the A8 is an improvement on the older A7. Either way, the A7 is difficult to find.

At the moment Officeworks will price match to $274.55 but this won't last long, ie until Amazon's price changes or their price changes. So be quick if you want this tablet at this price.

All the best.

PS: Slightly cheaper at digiDirect eBay - $276 Delivered using code 'DIGISAV20'

    • Agreed, note can Price Match at Officeworks for a total of $274.55 too.

And Digidirect delivers through AusPost and for us whenever AusPost delivers a parcel to us, it come dented and damaged…. every time. We had to install security cameras just to prove to AusPost Management that it was their staff throwing items. Once proved, do you think that they did anything about it?! NO. So we buy from Amazon or pick it up ourselves. Which is a shame as we LOVE Digidirect.

You can get packages sent to parcel locker to avoid it

        • We tried that too. Unfortunately the parcels still goes through AusPost delivery system and they just don't seem to care. And they should care because their number one reason for existence is… "delivery".

Here i was thinking it was selling stationary and small appliances. Like air fryers.

            Silly me.

            🤣

    • How much is the 9th gen iPad and where? Officeworks has it currently at $547.00

        $493.05 with 5% price match

      • +1

It's $519 on Amazon right now but https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/ipad-2021 shows it drops to $449 every couple weeks, $399 at one point

        • +1

Less likely to drop below $449 now, as the RRP was recently increased to $549.

          Good to know. Thanks.
The only thing I don't like about the 9th gen iPad is the crazy, and obsolete, Lighting connector. However it is not worth paying the extra for the 10th gen iPad just to get the USB-C connector.

If you have access to the Samsung Education Store and have a Newsletter Code (for $50 off), it might be worth looking at the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022). It has a better CPU and comes with a S-Pen.

    • This why I like OzBargains. Thanks for this.

    • A8 is a fine tablet, but screen is a let down in terms of colour/vibrancy.

  • Been much cheaper earlier this year.

    • +1

Was ~$150 earlier this year for the 4G model from Optus (also comes with bonus data leaks).

      • +2

        $95 after cashback.

      • That 'deal' cost me endless frustration with optus CS, got no tablet and didn't become a customer, but lost a lot of personal details in the cyber attack, thanks optus

Only just got my new license a few days ago 🤦‍♂️ will never deal with optus again!

Tldr not worth it at any price

Not a bad price, for not a bad tablet.

Earlier this year, I had picked up of these via the Optus deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/696220

I mainly use Android with my Google Home set up, so I thought this Samsung Tablet A8 would be able to replace my iPad 5th Gen. This A8 has great speakers and a nice screen to watch movies/shows. However, I found my self gravitating towards the iPad for general reading the news/forums, and streaming videos because I feel the iPad is more responsive than the A8.

Considering I got my A8 through that Optus deal (linked above), it was quite a bargain and I don’t regret getting it as a back up tablet for the kids. However, knowing what I know now about the A8 vs my old iPad 5th Gen, if I already have a functioning iPad and did not immediately need a new tablet, I personally would not buy this A8 for anything more than $250. Instead, I would save it towards the next time I need to upgrade my iPad in the next few years when it stops getting iOS updates and apps stop getting updated etc,

  • Paid $195 back in March on Amazon

    • Are you happy with it?

      • Mine just caved in. I just purchased from Optus deal. Having boot troubles. Being sent away.

  • +1

I have the 256gig one, sorry I bought it its so slow to boot up, can't even sell it, it just sits in the draw.

  • Despite some mixed experiences from Ozbargainers here, I gambled on going through the Cheddar app with their current $70 first customer promo and ended up getting it from Samsung direct.
~$80 cashback has already been tracked 😃

Still annoyed that I missed the cheaper deals on this earlier in the year, but this is good enough for me.

  • +1

Not a great tablet. Slow and screen is quite poor. Also got it from the Optus deal. Its also thrown in the draw not being used. Going to send overseas to fam.

Android 12 and One UI 4.1 update now available. Suggest you do the update.

      • Did it yesterday. Still not great

  • Looking for a cheap tablet to wall mount for Home Assistant. This or the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 10.6" (3rd Gen) 128GB 2K Tablet ZAAJ0155AU @ Bing Lee for $299? The Lenovo seems to have the better screen (IPS vs TFT, slightly higher resolution & PPI) so thinking Lenovo! :/

  • I believe this is around ~250 on the Samsung education portal and 128gb is 314

I got an LTE version of the A8 off gumtree (sealed, with warranty card) for $250 ~3 months ago and it's a great tablet for taking places you'd rather not risk a higher value item e.g. on a trip to a dodgy country or reading at the gym… not risking a $500 tablet or $1k ipad…

The screen is the let down: not very bright, colours aren't great and viewing angles are average at best—- but the performance of it is not bad when you consider what it is for this price, and having a local warranty.

It's perfect for me and I'm still stoked I found the one I did, but I have barely even used the LTE capability.

And yes I'm aware finding the deal I did on gumtree is the equivalent of hitting the lottery… but I think this deal is well priced for what it is. I'd be happy with it at this price.

  • I use the 4G version for my POS at work. Used to use A7. Hardly any quicker but it does the job.
