  • Will these work connected directly to an iPad with a usb c cable?

  • FYI Pebble Pros just got announced.

    • +1

They look alright for $100. The problem I'm having now is everything has USB-C but my mobo only has one port!

      • +2

        USB-C PCI expander card :)

        They have an Aux too

    • +1

i just got my Pebble Pro's delivered yesterday, can confirm they include a type C to C & A to C cable. No aux cable included. Also they come only in green for now, thought it was supposed to be black and had to double check their page. Only runs in 16bit 48000Hz in USB Mode.

      • Hey mate, I am also very interested at the pebble pro. Could you please let us know how you go once you try it out? Thanks !

      • +5

all right guys, here's what i found… Please consider that my current speakers are the S3000 Pro, so it's not really a comparison to that. The reason why i got these Pebble Pros was for the subtle sound during the late nights while my household members are sleeping.

        • The drivers are angled perfectly if placed on your desk at keyboard/mouse level. Not as good if elevated on a shelf as in my case, but not bad either.
        • Sound is detailed, good with the highs and mids and decent clear bass with the lows as you already know, no sub. I could classify these as a touch bright and clear with a little punchyness. Movies are good and so is music CONSIDERING its size.
        • Size of a large orange, the green plastics of the Pros are kinda ugly in light unless you're going for that masterchief build. In a dim room it matters little as it appears near black. RGB lights are ok, i've just set them to an amber glow since they sit slightly above my head height so i barely see the power led status.. it does help haveing that underglow.
        • No power on or off switch like the V3's, powered on when the volume knob is turned with an audible click from on/off while the Pro's are always powered if the type c ports are connected and powered.
        • Haven't used the headset ports as i have a dac with far more superior sound and unlikely that i would test them.
        • Have not used the AUX connection either but i'd say that's dependant on the hardware it's conected to (pc monitor aux connections sound worse than usual)
        • They dont distort too much on full volume but i'd say that it keeps full details even at 85-90% volume depending on your genre/rhythm/song.
        • The volume knob is shared with your device as it is a digital connection, wired or wireless. Volume adjust in tandem with your pc/smart device volume controls. so if placed further than arms reach the volume knob is redundant.
        • They sound just good on the single type c connection but i'd say it sounds like it has more depth by about 15-20% and weirdly a 10-15% boost in soundstage when connected to the higher watt pd type c port provided your have to right power source and cable (the one included is sufficient)

End of the day, because its new it's only available at full price. but it's definitely not worth twice the price of the V3's. Maybe if they removed the RGB and spent a little more in R&D towards sound i'd say this would of been perfect if it were priced ~$65.
Also a reminder im only using these during late nights coming from the huge S3000 Pro's which i upgraded from a 880DB. So if you want large sound go bigger, if you want compact sound worth the money go with the V3's. The Pebble Pros aren't considered middle ground, only as a minor incremental update of the V3's in my time listening. Still it won't dissapoint if you disregard the price and looking for that sleek SFF minimalistic setup.

        • Apologies if i took too long on the response there champ. Also i forgot to add above, as mentioned - twice the price of the V3's but an overall 25% improvement of sound quality when used in high power mode… is it worth it..? The answer lies with what you're looking for with price per dollar performance and your budget.

Update: Turns out they do include an aux cable but mine weren't there - must have been a mistake, hope its not a first batch problem.

          • @XII-19: Hey I know I wasn't the original comment asking for your feedback but would like to say thanks for the detailed feedback.

            Also
"Update: Turns out they do include an aux cable but mine weren't there - must have been a mistake, hope its not a first batch problem."

Could just be shrinkflation which is going to be more and more common. They make minor improvements, jack the price and remove something which was included in the box with previous models.
Could have been a last minute decision not to include the Aux cable and they just forgot to update the marketing info.

        • Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback!

    • Differences between Pro and the V3 seem to be:

      Pro's have…

      Dark green colour.
RGB - Meh. I would probably end up turning it off and it would be annoying if it defaulted to "on" every time you switched the Pro's on.
      10w RMS via 5V/2A USB-A or USB-C - Up from 8w RMS of V3.
30w RMS possible via USB-PD port/charger - If you want that extra volume over V3.
Bluetooth 5.3. - BT5.0 on V3 is good enough for me.
Headset and microphone port on the side of the speaker. V3 doesn't have these.
1.8m of cable between speakers compared to 1.35m of V3.

Personally I think I prefer the V3's when they go on clearance.

      • Strange decision to shift to a green colour only. Could make or break someone's desk set up!

        • Yeah I think it's just to make the Pro stand out from the previous pebbles.

  • +1

Be aware that the cable from speaker to speaker is quite short (1.35m) so depending on your setup, this may not be long enough, and it is not replaceable. Seems to be one of the biggest complaints I've seen in reviews/reddit.

    @CLPL Isn't the price always $49.95?

It was before Black Friday when I bought, it was during Black Friday and now it seems after as well.

    • Same here.

Do you find the Bluetooth volume to be much lower than Aux?
