  • Looking to get this for my son's phone. So account in my name, but phone number on phone with him. To get the 10% shop each month, do I have to have the phone that the account is for with me, or given that I have paid can I use my everyday rewards on my phone? Thx

    • +6

It's just linked to the Everyday Rewards you choose, so you don't need the phone to get the 10% off

    • +1

As long as you scan your everyday rewards card it's linked to your woolworths mobile service, it will ask you every month at the checkout (or you can do on click&collect) if you'd like to redeem the 10% off.

    • You link your everyday rewards account to the plan. Then in your everyday rewards account, you can put in your own mobile number for 2FA

    • +1

I can confirm that Woolworths uses the Telstra Wholesale network which is FAR SUPERIOR to KOGAN Mobile's network (Vodafone)
Ive had good reception all the way up and down the NSW coast whereas Kogan mobile was terrible if not non-existant along the way and in many popular towns, and even in the eastern Suburbs of Sydney!

So for all tose Kogan Mobile believers, start believing in Woolworths Mobile instead if you want excellent coverage.
By far the best plans, especially for those with low data usage.

You also get data rolloever PLUS 10% off your shopping once a month which can go a long way to paying for this plan.

      • A long way? Pays for itself easily!

  • Damn just got this last night haha Even checked ShopBack first and there was nothing.

    • If you ordered online, you might be able to cancel the order via online chat. I did it before.

      • True but I ordered an eSIM and as I found out the hard way on my first one they are activated/ported immediately.

        • Huh? Ported immediately?

          • @Morien: Yep bought the eSIM last night and it ported first thing this morning.

Side note: the eSIMs are really easy to set up, but you need to remove the physical SIM first, otherwise you need to add the eSIM profile again.

            • @bobwokeup: Ah, eSims are ported immediately. It says that when you select one. I thought you meant physical sims were ported immediately.

              • @Morien: Yeah I didn’t read the instructions when I was looking into them. I did however ask their customer service team, specified it’s an eSIM and 2 different members said I’ve got 60 days to activate it. I get they are new but I expect staff to listen and give me the correct answer (I know crazy right).

    • I do exactly same thing as you yesterday. Who knows it will have a better deal after the discount end yesterday :(

      • I know and I even did it 2 weeks early to the previous expiry date. Oh well you win some you lose some.

  • +1

Is there a date when the SIM card need to be activated bye?

    • +8

You must Activate Your SIM Card within 60 days from the date of Your purchase. link

      bye

    • +2

      Ok bye?

    • +1

      Yes. Goodbye

  • any good 6 month plan out there ?

    • +1

      I reckon ?

    • -2

Get this plan, and then write to the ombud after 6 months saying they suck

      • haha nice.

      • +7

        Please don't misuse the Ombudsman.

      • They don’t though, so why even suggest that?

  • +1

Wish i could pair this with a sim plan for apple watch.

    • -2

Maybe write to Santa before it’s too late. You never know, maybe he’ll organise a special deal with Woolworths Mobile just for you

    • This is the only reason I’m having to stay with the big 3 (Optus, Telstra, Vodafone) as they are the only providers that offer NumberSync or whatever it’s called where you get one phone number shared across your Apple Watch and iPhone.

Your only other option is to go for Truphone for $9.99/mo on top of this.

      • No prepaid SIM service offers Number Sync (in Australia), that's also the issue (not even prepaid directly with Vodafone/Telstra/Optus).

      • I'm thinking of getting the Woolies plan for my wife's new iPhone (which won't arrive until 28th this month). Looking at Truphone I see they have an iPhone plan, but how does that work with the Woolies phone? will they have different phone numbers?

  • Has anyone ported from Telstra to this? Do you need to cancel your Telstra account after the port happens? Or does Woolworths go through the whole process from porting your existing number?

    • shouldn't need to cancel after porting

    • Typically just have your details ready i.e. name, date of birth, Telstra account number, access to 2factor authentication through your phone number you're trying to port - then the providers will deal amongst themselves

  • I wish they did a deal on the larger plan!

  • Thats a good deal.
Already with Woolworths mobile, could i port out and port back in? My prepaids expires 10th Dec

    • Probably would work. You would be a new customer innit ?

    • Yes

  • Would be a better deal if they had bundled up the international calls

    • I have no overseas friends

      • +3

        Not even in Tasmania?

    • You don't use WhatsApp or a similar service for international? I find it's better than a traditional call.

      • sometime I use it, but couldnt depend on it always. especially if u want to contact someone living in the countryside with poor internet coverage n wired internet which disconnects whenever it rains (and this place is the wettest place in Malaysia :) ).

  • What flavour Telstra coverage does this have? I'm on belong ATM… Is the same / comparable? As I get what I need coverage wise from belong…

    • +2

Same as Belong, Telstra Wholesale network

  • If I have two numbers, do I receive two 10% discounts monthly?

    • I think you will need to link to different rewards card; otherwise, it will only be 1 discount.

      • Thanks, that's a bit of a bummer, would be better to accumulate points under one account.

      • +3

How to get discounts on groceries?

At Woolworths supermarkets, you can get 10% off one grocery shop every month (online or in-store) in one single transaction of up to $500 on groceries (maximum saving of $50). Eligible customers can redeem this offer on any one groceries shop across the calendar month. You will only be able to redeem the discount once per month, even if you have multiple Woolworths Mobile services under your name or a Woolworths Insurance or Woolworths Credit Card product. To be eligible for this offer your Woolworths Rewards card must be linked to your Woolworths Mobile account. The offer is not available on Everyday Market from Woolworths orders.

        • Legend, thanks :)

        • I am not sure if this has recently changed but the discount only applies to one grocery shop a month now.

You used to be able to use the discount once in store and once online each month.

    • also want to know as have car insurance too.

  • +1

Any issues with porting from boost?

  • +2

I'm with them and honestly, it's shit service. Unless I'm in the dead of the city, I get no service. I've literally used 12GB in 3 months, mainly because nothing loads.

    • Coverage okay for me in Melbourne but data is so less . I am using felix on the side

      • +5

How does Felix feel about this?

    • Not sure where you live, but my experience has been the opposite.

  • Woolworths can even read the nfc chip to add rewards points. They supposed to have 26 scan with your own mobile direct to your bag stores.
Makes Coles a stone age legacy grocer.

    • +1

UK has had this at least 5 years.
It was so annoying to come back from there and have to queue up at the checkout again like a pleb.

  • +2

You can save $20 by using the 1/2-price $40 starter pack when available, which is often. You can activate it on any plan, and pay the difference.

    • +1

      So the cost is $115?

      • +1

You can't stack. Right now, 135 is best, but more often they discount the $40 pack, so you pay $20 for that, plus $110 when activate.

        • +1

So if I have a $40pack to use now, so I only need to pay the gap $135- $40 = $95?

          • +3

@pcwa218: The discount applies to the SIM starter pack purchase, not to a recharge on activation. If you choose a different plan during activation, you pay the difference between the SIM starter pack value and the recharge value.

            e.g.:
            - if you buy a preloaded $20 SIM starter pack, you pay $130.00 (the difference between $20 and $150) during activation to recharge on the $150 Long Expiry plan, no matter how much you paid for the SIM starter pack.
            - if you buy a preloaded $40 SIM starter pack, you pay $110.00 during activation to recharge on the $150 Long Expiry plan
            - if you buy a preloaded $150 SIM starter pack, you pay nothing during activation

            • @dm02: Thanks @dm02 for your explanation.

  • Coles mobile deal $99 60gb+60gb was a killer deal

    • +1

Last year was only $95. Sad :(

  • Apologies hijacking that thread.
Anyone received the 10% online shopping code for December?
Should be something like DEC2022 but isn't working

    • +1

I have used mine…. No issue

      • They must have caught up on me…

        • what have you been hiding?

  • I am on Woolies post-paid and am out of contract. Any potential issues buying this to transfer to pre-paid?

    • Am curious about this too..

    • Starter Packs only work for new activations, since you would be moving from post-to-pre it wouldn't work. You could port out then port back in on the Starter Pack if you like

  • It's not part of their 5G trial sims so no 5g on this one right?

    • +1

      “Our 5G trial will be available on the following plans: Prepaid 30 day plans: $30 & $40, Postpaid Plans: $35, $45 & $49 SIM Only and $35, $45 & $49 Phone Plans”

Sadly no 5G on the long expiry plans.

      • I like how companies charge extra for 5G all the time when we actually only get 5G 2% of the time and it remains on 4G most of the time

  • does ww mobile have VoLTE? i like high quality calls

  • My existing plan is expiring tomorrow - can I buy a physical $2 sim from Woolies and port to this plan today or I have to wait for Woolies to post me the sim which can take upto 10 days? My phone is not e-sim compatible

    • If you're already with Woolworths Mobile, then no, as the preloaded value starter packs only work for new activations. Also, you cannot buy a $2 SIM for this promo, as the discount applies to the starter pack purchase, not a recharge on activation.

If you're with another provider, there's two possible options:
      - Depending on stock at your local store, you might be able to buy a $150 SIM starter pack in-store - the discount also applies to in-store purchases of the $150 starter pack
      - Alternatively, you can sign up for eSIM, then once your number is ported over and the service is activated, do a SIM swap via the app or website to a $2 SIM. Note that you won't have access to your service for the period of time between port over and the SIM swap completing though

  • Just FYI that now most of the MVNOs from Optus such as coles and amaysim, as well as Telstra such as Belong and Woolworth are getting VoLTE and VoWiFi this month. I am on belong and my wife is on coles, we both got those features.

  • Can we get this deal instore and pay with Woolworths gift cards? Thanks!

    • I don't think they sell any long expiry starter packs in store.

      • +1

Some stores do sell the $150.00 starter pack, depends on your local store.

        • Thanks heaps, will check it out.

        • Yep my local had them in stock. Thanks.

          • @HappyPants: Does you store advertise them online? I cant seem to find them in my store's online store.

  • @tightarse any chance of a Woolies Cashrewards rebate? How's that technical issue coming?

  • Oops

  • +1

This is seriously a great deal isn't it? If you don't especially need 5g and 100gb is enough? Coz if you spend roughly $100 on groceries just one time per month this basically works out to be free? And its Telstra, or parts of it. And according to previous comments, we have 60 days to activate after purchasing!

    • agreed. very good deal.

  • …and it's available in some stores

    • But, as I learnt today, you can't pay instore with Woolies gift cards, for some dumb reason, so no further 4% discount etc. Better to order the sim thru shopback I think?
