  • It states 'Console edition' and lists that it's good for everything but PC, why is that?

It's the same product. The "console edition" is just missing the detachable 3.5mm dual splitter for microphone and audio which comes with the regular Arctis 3.

Just buy the splitter elsewhere for cheap.

Cool thankyou, yeh just found that in a review

(in case anyone else wants it: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sun-selects/17102874/steelseries-ar…

"The virtual 7.1 surround feature works well enough, particularly in FPS games, contributing substantially to a more immersive gaming experience.

However, it's not quite there, and a USB, hardware-based real surround option would have brought the overall experience up a notch, but at this price, it is more than acceptable.

Since the Arctis 3 are compatible with both gaming consoles and PCs, it is is important to make a distinction here.

SteelSeries are selling separate Arctis 3 and Arctis 3 Console versions of this headset. However, both are completely identical, with the only difference being that the main Arctis 3 product includes a dual 3.5mm extension needed for some PCs, whereas the Console edition does not."

          Darnit! I need that splitter.

I can't seem to find if this console version supports Bluetooth on the ebay page. If it does, I can go without the splitter… would be useful for both work (which is what I need it for) and travel to/from work then.

EDIT: A comment in a youtube vid says this version has no bluetooth. Guess I can still plug the 3.5mm jack into my phone… just doesn't make it future proof in case the next one has no 3.5mm jack. And I still need to buy the stupid splitter so I can use this for MS Teams meetings.

          • @Mugsy: I can't seem to find the bluetooth one on sale, unless it's from overseas for over $200. It can't be that much more can it?

            • @Jackson: Yes, the BT version is much more expensive.

  • I wouldn't buy from these clowns, if you have any problems with the product you're on your own. (Check their store reviews, the legitimate negative ones vs the spamming positive ones)

  • Decided to bite the bullet. Whilst I can benefit from the Arctis 5 with USB support, 3.5mm is good enough and these will be way more comfortable than other crappy $50 headsets most people get for MS Teams meetings… if I'm in one for 2hrs, these will be a better experience.

  • how much more are the bluetooth versions? I can't even find a pair for sale.

  • More expensive, but if you prefer buying from Amazon they have it for $59 at the moment

  • FYI, the DIGISAV20 code still works.

    Was extended to 16/12/2022.

My Arctis 3 came in the mail today. Did a quick test and I'm quite liking it… very no frills headset that's great for the money. Much better than those craptastic $30-45 headsets they sell for office use.

Also noticed that the 3.5mm port on my laptop has a headset logo rather than a headphones logo so I may not need that splitter after all… at least not for work, I'll need it at home.

My phone case though… doesn't leave a big enough hole for the artics 3 to plug in. Gonna need a new case or I need to widen the hole.

    • Just try boring it out a bit with a hss drill bit maybe?

      • I remembered I had a spare case in a crate somewhere… I bought two when I first got my phone and I was still using the first case. Swapping the cases definitely the way to go as the first case's plastic is a bit sticky now after 3yrs. The other case has a bigger hole for the 3.5mm jack so it's a double win!

I just got mine today, and wow am I happy to have picked these up. Sound is amazing for the price, bass is on the heavy side but not at the detriment of the rest of the range at all. Has to be the most comfortable headphones that I've word, feels way more comfortable than my XM3s, and lighter. Can't see if the headband has any metal in it, but its nice and thick and your head doesn't come in contact with it. Haven't used the mic yet, but having an old basic volume control is a nice touch. They aren't noise cancelling but they probably cut back outside noise by about half in a normal environment.

For the money they get a huge recommendation from me as an all round headset, I wouldn't bother looking at anymore more expensive unless you need ANC or wireless (and IMO these aren't needs, as much as apple and samsung would like to make us believe)

      • Agree with everything you said there. Very comfy headsets for under $50 with great sound.

I'm only disappointed that I left mine in the office over the xmas break… didn't want to lug them around when I was xmas shopping after work.

Definitely going to be using these on the commute to and from work!

        • The only issue I have had since is that for some reason when I plug them into my laptop, I think the laptop's Mic is still working and not the headphone's one. No one is complaining but I need to work out what's going on there.

Secondly, I hadn't realised that the cable, while being replaceable, is proprietary. Fortunately SS sell them for a reasonable price and they are available on ebay, but it would be nice to be able to use a standard cable, and I was under the impression the share port was actually an input.

Still, amazing headphones for the price and a bonus that the ear pads, head strap and cable are all sold separately, so should be the only headphones you need for a long time
