Hi guys i'm looking for wine for gifts for clients. but know nothing about it. Wondering if there any bargains, looking to pay nothing under $50 for a bottle but just hoping to get something good for that money.

During the black friday sales last week, there were bottles of Moet for about $50 each. Always nice to receive as a gift.

    • ^^^This.
You don't know what types of wine people like, and you don't want to spend time trying to personalise for each individual taste if you do know. Almost everyone will find a time and place to open a bottle of Moet.

  • Not everybody likes wine
The only thing its good for is a Ragù

  • If you know nothing about wine, try Vinomofo for example. Not as good as they used to be but they filter out the rubbish and often have good prices, especially the Black Market stuff. Otherwise Bec Hardy does nice wines and the rep regularly posts deals here. Maybe message him for a deal?

  • How many wines altogether?

You could buy singles using cashbacks, slow and painful.

Vinomofo, if you work out what a wine is and you get 6 wines and you can gift everyone the same wine etc.

  • If you don't want to go down the Champagne path, The Struie by Torbreck is some fine drinking at that price point.

Do you know what style wine they like? Not just white or reds but what grapes?

You could get great recommendation for wines but there’s no point if they don’t like the grape. Eg I could tell you to get Chris Ringland Reservation Shiraz but it’s a useless recommendation if they don’t like shiraz to begin with

  • As per Gunnar, make sure you have this info.
I gave wine gift to an ex alcoholic once, almost had to resign over that one.

  • Dan Murphey's gift card always works. I can say that McGuigan's Black Label Red is pretty awesome, even though a low-priced wine. I bought it to cook with and had a chef's glass— went right down and bought 6 more- lol. High review praise as well. FYI.

  • My housemate is a wine merchant for Dan Murphy's. Their "cellar release" wines are really, really good value. There are some wines there that are less than $20 which punch way above their price point. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of those.

    • No doubt, but OP still has to choose something as a gift, not knowing what the recipient likes or (more importantly) dislikes.

      • 1 red, 1 white… job done.
