that LG one is only FHD (2560 x 1080) resolution. this one is QHD (3440 x 1440)
Ew 1080, don't know why anyone would buy a fhd monitor these days
1080 fine if 24" monitor if larger yes not good. i have 29" ultrawide and wish i have more than FHD
@CyberMurning: 29” ultrawide FHD (2560*1080) is equivalent to 24" normal FHD tho
Screen resolution is lower with the Aldi deal which makes it a very average deal
There's many models of this seemingly cheaper panel floating about, but there's no performance data, so be mindful of this and maybe have a seller agree to return if the testing of motion blur is unsatisfactory.
I think this is very likely the same monitor under the hood as the AOC U34G3X which is usually cheaper and has a couple extra features, namely a built-in USB hub and speakers. The AOC also appears to have the better stand, allowing for a greater range of height adjustment, and it can swivel where the Philips can't.
While speculative, this isn't just based on specs either. AOC manufacture all Philips monitors, as they have acquired the rights to the Philips brand for this market.
enlightening, thankyou!
Glad I went the AOC for my son a few months back… Especially at $427 delivered.
What about the HP X34 34" 165Hz?
Another unknown quantity with the lack of professional reviews for it, but there is reasonably strong speculation that it uses the same panel (made by a company called BOE) as the Gigabyte M34WQ, which is a known quantity and a well regarded monitor that usually sells for almost $700.
If so it's interesting because HP look to have stripped basically all the extra features of the Gigabyte monitor and produced a bare-bones product with as few features as possible to get it to the cheaper price point. The entire HP X series is sort of like this, i.e. decent panels with minimum effort everything else, so it wouldn't be surprising.
The HP does use BOE, but according to displayspecifications, the M34WQ is made by Innolux:

@SvcKpc: Yeah, looks like there's conflicting information out there, and none of it looks official. It appears that Gigabyte do use both suppliers for their various products, so it'd be very easy for a source to get it wrong. Alternatively it's also possible that Gigabyte switched up the provider at some point, as they've done for other products previously. As Gigabyte themselves are unlikely to say anything, this will likely remain a mystery for a good while. :|
Wheres all the 4K 120/144 deals?
Cutting onions using my 4090 fans til then
well done, you have beaten my deal .. :-D
This looks like a pretty good deal indeed. Obviously more reviews would be ideal, but based on the specs it ticks more than enough boxes for that price point.
There are a lot of non-ultrawide QHD monitors that are more expensive than this one, and a lot of them are VA instead of IPS.
Shipping is $32.70 for me to Qld. I'm not mVIP.
The HP is about $55
the Phillips is $9.95 for me to Brisbane via Auspost eParcel. the HP is $42
Sucks to live in Toowoomba I guess!
Where are all the 2.1 HDMI deals this Black Friday
Is being curved generally desired? Or is that more of a thing for VA displays?
Is being curved generally desired?
depends on the receiver
Aldi have a 34" ultra wide LG for $349, though it won't be as bright etc as this.
