Hi All
Was wondering what is the model of the oldest working laptop you have. I'll go first, I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop from 2007, 2 GB RAM, and still using it to run HASS :)
Thanks.

I’ve got a 1999/2000 clamshell iBook in graphite. The special edition with a 466mhz PowerPC cpu. Still runs well on OSX Tiger but the LCD screen has weirdly started leaking :(
Have a 2012 model MacBook Pro that still does a good job. Put a Samsung Evo SSD in it a couple of years ago and replaced the battery recently.
Absolutely fine for our use.
Just got rid of my Compaq Evo n1000v from 2002. 1.5 celeron and 1gb memory. Was being used as a Mame emulator. Great sound/speakers on it. Sad now.
Toshiba Satellite U400. I think 2008. Screen replaced once, 2nd battery that dosnt charge anymore. Installed an SSD. Runs Windows 10 & Ubuntu. It's slow but worked for downloading torrents overnight - rather than having my energy sucking gaming rig stay on.
Was wondering what torrents you guys download these days with mostly media available on streaming apps..
I used to download some media, save onto USB drives then mail them to my dad. His retired, lives remotely on his own and does not have internet.
2007 HP Compaq 6510b. Two USB ports gone, otherwise all good. Has always been running Linux on it, this days I switch it on only if I need to use Linux.
Acer Aspire 5750 from 2011. Haven't actually used it since 2019 though. DVD drive was busted by the time I received it, so I replaced it with a SSD, and RAM has been upgraded as well.
Toshiba Libretto 110ct one of the coolest micro laptops ever made with all genuine accessories, genuine leather folio case, docking station etc.
When I bought it back in the early 2000's I had all these ideas about having it strapped to my forearm while doing wireless signal surveys (was working for a wireless ISP at the time). Once it arrived, it was bigger than I imagined it to be xD
did you get inspired from the total recall wrist strapped calulators actor wore?

I have an ACER from 2005 with a Celeron processor 1.5HZ. Initially only had 256MB of RAM but upgraded to 512, now 1GB. Runs Win XP.
Still good but battery is long dead.
Lenovo V330. I think it's may be 2 years old.
2003 HP Pavillion ZT3000.
It's speakers are better than any other laptop I've used, MacBooks included.
Benq from around 2005!
Working: NEC Versa Note, circa late 90s/early 2000s - Pentium II 366, 256MB of RAM, running Windows 98SE from a 60GB mSata drive.
Non-working: Dell Latitude LM - Pentium MMX 166.
Still rocking a 2013 MacBook Air. Was fully spec’s at the time. I changed the battery about 12 months ago. It’s still going strong. But the screen is shithouse compared to everything else I use now. But not update in the near future
Yeah, I had the Macbook Air (Mid 2012) for 10 years. Intel Core i7 2GHz, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD.
I sold the MacBook Air (Mid 2012) a few months ago and rocking a M1 Macbook Pro now. Glad that Apple has added SD card reader back.
I have an Apple IIC from the 1980s. It works but it’s not useful for anything.
I might still have some floppy disks for it.
although you can download any of the programs and EMU them now - it's not the same :-(
MSI wind u100
Ive still got an original EEEPC 4GB that the kids use
how does youtube run on that type of laptop?
Not that old but a 2014 MSI GS70 Stealth 17" laptop. i7 4720HQ, 16GB RAM, GTX 970. I still use it occasionally and it's not bad.I previously replaced the 3x128GB mSATA SSD's with 2x256GB mSATA SSD's and the mechanical HDD with a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo.
and this post proves so many people having nothing to do
Your comment does anyway…
When I worked in a grocery store in ~2018, they used a realy old laptop to change the price in their cashier. It has floppy drive and communicates with the cashier by com port. I dont know what os it runs.
Toshiba T3100 (1988)
First gen ibook. Still starts. From 1999 i think.
I still use my Samsung Ultrabook, around 11-13 years old? I7, 8GB RAM etc.
It does all the basics very well, never given me issues.
Unfortunately my cat decided it was a good place to take a dump, half the keys don't work now and I have to use an external USB keyboard.
Time for upgrade 🤣
