Why are McDonalds deals not allowed?
We have had a heap of HJ deals recently so I can't see it being a junk food coupon/discount issue.

McDonalds Australia has in the past requested that their deals are not to be published on OzBargain.
Wow. Have they considered, perhaps, designing their promotions for the modern era rather than just trying censorship?
Or am I not allowed to point out that McDonalds is being censorious, and not acting in the best interests of either its owners or customers?
Does this mean that we're not allowed to talk about McDonalds at all?
I think it's alright to discuss McDonald's. I think the issue is posting deals or any images depicting their logo which are generated by the OzBargain screenshot function. They are very controlling with their brand and so be it.
Personally, I'd love to see McDonald's deals back on OzBargain but I'm not keen to poke the lion.
Has an OB admin/mod contacted them lately to discuss about this? There was an article in The Age/SMH that talked about declining numbers of customers at Maccas. ('SOURCE' - No pun intended: http://www.theage.com.au/business/mcdonalds-growth-falters-2…)
HJ's is gonna rule the market soon if they don't watch out.
The person who contacted me in August last year (Vice President/General Counsel) no longer works for McDonald's according to his LinkedIn page. So I used their online contact/feedback form to make an inquiry about the situation. Wrote a long feedback that can be summarised in the following points:
- OzBargain is one of largest bargain sharing community in Australia.
- Our members would love to tell others about McDonald's deals.
- It has been almost 3 years. Time to reconsider to lift self-imposed ban? (well, "trademark issues" actually).
Got back an email from their customer service this morning saying:
McDonald's Australia already has approved suppliers and contractors, and we have adapted a policy of not accepting new contractors. We hope that you can understand this decision, and wish you well with your business.
What?! Did they actually read what I wrote?
Maybe I need the email address of someone higher up. Can someone help?
Dont worry thats the new Macdonalds approach dont listen too anyone. Dont worry about social media until we have to lol i mean its our customers after all, who else uses social media :)

Anyway. I assume that the email conversation between myself and that VP might not be recorded internally at McDonald's. I just wrote back to their customer service rephrasing what I've said, and if I don't get any objection from them, the assumption is that McDonald's is happy for OzBargainers to share Macca deals.
This is just weird. First time I am writing to a merchant asking "please, can we unban you? Please?!"
Yeah i thought that was unusual, although it may be a good idea scotty. Especially targeting the good ones we all want, okay most.
LOL at that response. There are some contacts on their About Us Page. Maybe send an email to their marketing person. There is a head office near me that I walk by. I can pop in there to ask for an email contact if you keep getting canned responses.
Perhaps you can block Fireshot from generating screenshots on McDonald's deals if they are worried about having their image displayed on OzBargain?

Unfortunately we do not list any of McDonalds deals/offers with any Companies. We do appreciate your offer but we have to decline.

Did you try emailing the VP anyway? There might be an automated message with the new contact's details.
maybe it is all the $2 HJ's burger deals posted here that pissed them off … LOL @ Meccas. clearly they don't get the idea of viral marketing. their facebook campaign strategy is just half baked amateur wannabe
@spiderpig — as I've mentioned, the said VP has already left the company.
Anyway we have removed the ban on McDonalds.com.au due to non-response from their "customer feedback". We'll deal with it if they are raising issues again.
yeah he knows they no longer work there. He said did you try emailing it anyway, it might forward to the new VP or auto-respond with new contact details….
Definitely an American reading the emails.

I've been a long time reader of OzBargain but never contributed. I work for the company that runs 'Pickle Club'.
It is not a McDonalds endorsed club and is not run by McDonalds internally but is rather run by the KellyCo Group which is a licensee of McDonalds, if 'a a a' wanted to post it I would imagine we would have no issues but the wording would have to be altered to obviously not include anything McDonalds related or anything using their trademarks.
I'm not sure what has happened since the last posts earlier in the month but if anyone still has interest in getting this resolved I can make contact with marketing directly and try to work out a solution which will allow us to post their best deals freely without repercussions for OzBargains admins, please contact me on here if anyone does.
