I saw this deal from the post outside the store, and I tried a white one in store, quite smooth.
Checked HN website and the online price is $479, so I think it is kind of bargain.

People think 2 is better than 1.
As it is a different model, the distributors need to get more stock from Samsung even they still have a ton of 1st gen sitting at their warehouse. Otherwise the loyalty of distribution-ship is loss.
Each retail store need to have some stocks in their shop as well.
As the result, Samsung gain more money.
That's why you can see nowadays each model of electronic product's life time cycle is shorter than even.
Good one, even Kogan has it at $419 plus shipping. But my gut feeling says price could drop further as there isn't much consumer sentiment on Sammy's latest Tab2 release(kind of disapointting, spec-wise). But would pick up one if I am in urgent need of a tablet tho
Argh I'm leaving the country in 2 and half weeks, and need to buy a tablet for my brother - currently there's this or the Lenovo one at 299 (or $339 16gb+3G)… I obviously would rather cheaper if possible.. do you guys think we'll have more price drops within the next 2 weeks, or will it only happen after the Nexus is released? Help/thoughts/suggestions please.
It's hard to tell as this deal isn't nationwide so I'd say grab it when you can. It's a decent tablet if you do need one (not your second or 3rd one )…plus you gonna get GST refund, it makes the deal even sweeter…

The good thing about the 2 is that it's running ICS straight off the bat, whereas the 1 is still running on Honeycomb.
