  • Hi OP,
I am curious about your night guards.
Is your Silensor same as a sleep apnea mouth guard? As i understand, the sleep apnea mouth guards cost up to 1850 but I assume this is just a custom mouth guard?

  • Hi,

To get specific information on that you would be best to email [email protected]

In general though the Silensor devices are specifically designed to alleviate snoring issues.

They are a little more sophisticated than just a custom mouth guard, as per the description they consist of one splint for the upper jaw and one splint for the lower jaw. This allows comfortable jaw movements while preventing the lower jaw from falling back. It helps reposition your lower jaw to keep airways open, and reduce snoring.

    • I hope you realise it's illegal to provide an oral snoring device without a prescription from a sleep physician after a patient has had a sleep study.

DIY snoring devices is just plain dangerous

      • Not sure about the legalities but 100% should be seeing a dentist if you are having a mandibular repositioning/advancement splint made which their Silensor is basically trying to do. Preferably a dentist who has a some experience with sleep breathing disorders as well.

The rest of their DIY products may work but I guess it just depends on how well you take your own impressions, what material they use for that, and how much distortion that material has during transit. You kind of get what you pay for.

  • can you claim this back from your health insurance?

    • No you cannot
