The shiny ones may look nice, but they do seem to scratch easily, and then don't look so shiny. So your cheapness also has some practical benefits.
They also have shiny ones for a couple bucks more.
The shiny ones are just blue ones with extra silver paint on top. It wears off pretty quickly (at construction sites at least).
