Van Dieman's are discounting most of their range of fountain pen inks for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Shipping starts from $10 for regular post so the best option is to stock up on a few different colours (or lots of one colour if you really, really like it!).
I'm often asked what this ink is like, here are a few of my thoughts:
- Intense colours, but suitable for diluting to use as a wash or with a brush.
- I wouldn't advise mixing colours if using in a fountain pen, but go for it if you use a dip pen or brush.
- Slight feathering on some papers. A highly fibrous paper will feather (e.g. Moleskine notebooks, some art papers), but something really smooth (e.g. Rhodia, Tomoe River) is less likely to feather.
- Drying time is a bit longer (a few seconds), but these are also really wet inks so that's not unusual. Use blotting paper if you're signing something and you're in a hurry.
- Not much bleed-through. On plain copier paper I get no bleeding, and even very thin paper like Tomoe River or Smythson seems resistant. Moleskine will bleed, but it seems susceptible to it with every ink I've used with this paper.
