Robot Vacuum That Can Handle a Mirrored Wardrobe

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded from a "dumb" robot vaacuum to one with LIDAR. I'm returning the new one as it simply couldn't escape my bedroom due to the door being right next to a mirrored wardrobe.
I would like to avoid having to cover the mirror but I would also like a robot vacuum that can map my apartment..
Has anyone had experience with something like this and has a recommendation?

I'm hoping to find the perfect robot vac for my needs that is under $500..

Had this problem with my Dreame L10 Pro. Once the map was made I just set a virtual wall.

    • Ok so I need a robovac where I can do that.. the one I recently purchased doesn't have the option to set virtual walls (Xiaomi mi essential vacuum mop).

      Thanks for your response.

Cheap option would be to put a strip of something along the wardrobe higher than the LIDAR sensor so it can't see the mirror.

      • the viomi has virtual wall/off limits area that's easy to set

  • Does anyone know if I will be able to avoid this problem with a ECOVACS Deebot N8 (currently $399)?

I have same model, once the MAP is set, you can create virtual walls, I also have a lot off mirrored wardrobes, the vacuum sees them as another room lol. so, I put a virtual wall along each of them. I also stopped it from going under my bed, No Idea how it could get under it, but I would randomly find it stuck under my bed as there was no room for it to move. But my recommendation to you , is when you first set up the map, is clear any debris of the floor, hide power cables, speaker cables, etc. OPEN all doors, set vacumn to slow and let it do a full scan of your house, once the map is built, you can fiddle with it in the app.

      • Really appreciate your response mate. Looks like I've found my new robot vacuum!

Can't answer for the Deebot N8, however I bought the one at Aldi last year ECOVACS Deebot Neo? (bugger me what it's called) and it's fine with floor mirrors and the like. It's funny how it maps them thinking there is another room but it handled it fine and then just put a wall in the map to be sure basically. Hope that helps? I call mine Daniel and he is the best pet I own.

Cute! Mine is called Marvin. When I drop something on the floor I usually say "Marvin will take care of that" or do an impression of Marvin from the Hitchhiker's guide movie 🤣

  • I love my Ecovac Deebot N8 , I have a 2 bedroom apartment. 90% carpet. Very happy with it.

  • If your vacuum doesn't have the MAP function, you may want to try Magnetic strips, I haven't used them myself, but I got a pack when I ordered a service kit for a friends vacuum that was 18 months old, and read up on them, apparently, they act like virtual walls.

My Deebot doesn't seem to have an issue with it
