Massive thumbs up for Patagonia now becoming a trust with profits going to help global warming / protect undeveloped land around the world. I will hopefully pick up some of their men's jackets in the next month or so for next year.

  • I need a down jacket (mens) sometime soon. Anyone got recommendations as far as what's the general go-to?

Is there much of a quality difference between Patagonia and Macpac?

Do a little research. See what the down filling is made of. Have a look at how they are stitched. Try them on to see which fits best.

      • When someone asks these type of questions, they’re clearly not the researching kind. Sure you can try (as you have) to guide them that way but it’s unlikely they will adapt the approach.

I find it best to give them the information they want, if I know it and can be arsed, or otherwise leave the question to someone else who does and can.
