Given the star rating, I think Kelvinator 2.5kW/3.2kW is better than Haier.
Haier has a rating of 2star for heating and 4 for cooling.
Kelvinator 5 star cooling and heating.

    • Although reviews for that Kelvinator aren't great.

I looked at this also. Be careful as these star ratings are not comparable. The Haier is using the new star rating scheme that has it broken up into hot, average and cold zone. The kelvinator values are the old system with just one value for heating and cooling. The new system is tougher to get high star ratings.
So in reality you can have a 2 star unit under the new system that is more efficient than a 5 star model under the old system.
To get the apples for apples comparison you have to look at https://www.energyrating.gov.au/

  • Does this come with the back unit installed outside or just this front

    • It would come with both indoor and outdoor units. Plus the installation costs.

      • Wait what, someone comes to install it for free?

I misread your first question, front and back units are both delivered for free, but the installation costs would be around $1-1.5K depending on your situation. I just had a Mitsubishi unit installed so I got a few quotes.

@Nkl: uh ok, thanks for the info, they never show the back unit in the pictures so always makes me question it.

  • Im getting someone to clean my very old box unit for $140. Does it make more sense for me to put towards a brand new split system? No Idea about installation prices tbh

    • Your window rattler likely has its own 15a circuit so should cut down on elec costs during install.
Keep in mind though you will have to cover the new hole in the wall or window where your RAC was.

  • Gold Coast has a delivery cost of $85, but can be picked up for free.
