Were there any that you wanted to get at a higher price point but still bang for buck?
Not really, aything more expensive either had features I don't care about (auto bin empty, etc) or don't work great with a method to remove the vacuums from talking to the cloud.
Being able to remove the vacuum from relying on the cloud was a big selling point for me on this vac
We have had this for nearly a year now and it’s great. It’s our first robot vac and it’s everything we hoped it would be. Minor gripe is the software mapping doesn’t always stay the same and it’s gone onto the long pile rug a few times within the no go zone. But that’s software issues. We would buy it again and have recommended it to a few friends now who are also happy with theirs.
This or Roborock S5 Max?
As an alternative, there is also the Dreame D9 Max (which I think is newly released in Australia) with similar specs on their eBay store for $399.
Good find, seems to be difference of object recognition and washable filter.
I have a D9 max. Like mentioned above, the main difference is the object recognition (I think both have washable filters).
The other major difference is that the L10 pro has updated firmware which includes features like Google Home assistant support, deep cleaning mode, 3x passed (instead of max 2x) and apparently quicker response time. The D9 max hasn't yet been updated but it should at some point you'd think (the D9 was updated in March).
For the people it matters to, the D9 max won't support Valetudo rooting because they've cut down the hardware in the max from the older D9 and L10 pro (128MB RAM and flash memory for the D9 max vs 512MB for the L10 pro, newer dual core vs older quad core etc).
Thanks for the feedback, JR63! I ordered the D9 Max from eBay after watching a few YouTube videos on it. But for $50 more, the L10 pro might be worth it with the extra features.
You'll be happy with it I think (I am)!
@JR63: That's all I wanted to hear! :)
This is my first robovac so I thought I'd go with something on the cheaper side but with decent enough features and the D9 Max seemed to fit the bill.
@JR63 I tried to look up what “Valetudo rooting” is … my basic understanding is software modifications? If so I still don’t really get the benefits.
So would you recommend the D9 max ?
Basically, just allows more modifications. Unnecessary for most people.
I think the D9 max is probably good enough for your needs.
@JR63: Thanks mate … got it for $319.20 with the promo code.
If you have ebay plus, you can get $19.95 off with PLUSNOV1.
Good call. I rarely use eBay so I don't have eBay plus but definitely worth noting the extra discount!
They're currently offering $0-5 for first year subscription if you're targeted and a $20 voucher through a sign up link. If you can get it's a good deal even if you only use ebay a few times a year.
This is now $319.20 as it's a part of the Black Friday specials. $311.22 if you have eBay Plus.
Damn I should have waited a few more days :(
Thoughts on whether it's worth paying more for the Z10 Pro?
They're almost the same machine with the Z10 Pro having an auto empty base. Depends how important that is to you (I personally couldn't justify the extra expense given how easy the bin is to empty every week or so).
I have the z10 pro… or had. Had to return it due to random firmware issue which requires back to base flashing if you don't want to void warranty. In the 2 months I had it, it was great and worked well. At the end of the day, dock v no dock is just lazy v more lazy. The L10 has a larger bin capacity. I'm guessing with a dock the Z10 doesn't need to be very large. The z10 also has extra DtoF navigation. I'm not sure there's much difference in reality. Just decide on dock v no dock.
I have the standard Dreame D9 and couldn't be happier with it. My only issue (once) in the last year has been the home map disappearing on the Mi Home app.
4.2% CR on this?
How does this compare to the more expensive roborock S7 which is almost twice the price?
I know specs dont tell the full story but on paper the cheaper L10 has more suction power and is quieter etc.
They both have LIDAR etc for mapping and object detection and the S7 has the sonic mop and carpet detection etc.
Surely there has to be more in the S7 to justify the extra price?? …..or not?
Will this come back in stock as part of their sale?
Returning mine unfortunately. Great vacuum but the battery keeps dying second week into its use mid clean.
Thanks, had my eye on one for a while and $500 was my goal buy price so this is a bonus
