There are a few good picks on US early black friday deals on Samsung products.

SAMSUNG 870 EVO 4TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-77E4T0B/AM), Black

Since it is eligible for Buy 2, save 6%, if you can find any eligible product you need at a good price. It can save you additonal 6%. If you can't find any eligible product, I'd suggest

BIC Round Stic Grip Xtra Comfort Ball Pen, Medium (1.2 mm), Purple, 12-Count $8.98 $5.34

which ends up
($498.92 (870 EVO 4TB SSD) + $5.34 (BIC Ball Pens)) x (1 - 6%) = $474

cheaper than buying the SSD alone.

Likewise,

Samsung 980 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 M.2 SSD, MZ-V8P2T0B $289.04

($289.04 (980 Pro 2TB SSD) + $5.34 (BIC Ball Pens)) x (1 - 6%) = $276.72

My gaming PC has been using a Samsung 840 Evo 1TB for what must be close to 10 years now, has been absolutely fantastic, i remember paying around $450 at the time and scoffing at spending so much money on a mere 1TB!

Worth it, only 45 dollars per year hihi

    • I paid $300 for an 850 Evo 500GB around the same time. Should have HODL I guess

    • Got the 840 pro 512GB for mad money back in the day. Still gets used as a usb stick

Just be wary that SSD failures tend to be fast and total, they tend not to give you warnings signs like a hard drive does. So I'd ensure you're keeping backups of your important data.

      • How many failures have you had and what brand were they?
Hope i dont jinx it, but Ive only had failures a long time ago using cheap brands.

        • +1

All brands and models, but cheap definitely don't last as long.

          • @lenspizza: Odd, ive installed about 100 i guess and havent had issues (excepting those cheap ones, which i used in the early days of SSDs i guess that was 10 years ago some of those cheap SSDs were sketchy!).

But i usually only install samsungs which have been rock solid (touch wood).
I sometimes use other brands at home, particularly in test equipment.

      • They tend to be write failures though. In such cases, although the PC won't boot off it, it would be relatively straightforward to recover your data.

  • so many cpu video card and storage deals

But yet to see any good deals.

      • Hopefully black friday we will

  • Good price but I would still probably go for the Crucial MX500 4TB for $427

Just got one of these 4TB from eBay by putting an offer in for $400au and $15 for express postage which took 2 days from SA to QLD.

I dont think the seller is a shop but has a few left (brand new) and pos feedback and seller said warranty is still covered by Samsung 5 year but not sure what to do without a receipt for proof of purchase from Samsung (or will that not matter?).

Anyhow, I bought a MX500 from Umart but it ended up being returned due to a fault and I was refunded. But fingers crossed here!

      What's happen to your MX500?

      • +1

For whatever reason it showed up in disk manager as unknown disk, and gave me no options to delete or create new volume/disk or format. Was pretty weird and I sent pics of the error to support for warranty purposes. Very odd indeed.

  • It's $489 from Samsung AU with free shipping https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/sata-ssd/870-evo-4…

    • It's the same as Amazon AU. This deal is all about the hack on Amazon US' buy 2 save 6%.
