What Do You Think of Moto Edge 30 Fusion and Neo?

Hi, looking at upgrading our Moto G9 Plus to Moto Edge 30 Fusion and Moto G8 Plus to Moto Edge 30 Neo (chosen for smaller size).

Both the G9 Plus and G8 Plus are no longer receiving Android and security updates. Lack of updates has been an issue and is the only reason we are changing. However Motorola has promised two upgrades and three years of bi-monthly patches to the new Edge 30 series.

We use the phone mainly for calls, texts, email, googling, watching soccer, google wallet (NFC), some camera use and dual sim. No gaming.

Has anyone used the new Edge 30 phones? Are there other better options for similar price with lengthy security updates? One phone has to be a smaller size, about 6.3 inches. Prefer to buy from a physical store.

We also have a Nokia 5.4 (smaller size) currently and not keen on getting another Nokia. Problems with connecting to Telstra. Also had a Samsung Galaxy 4 and iPhone 7 before. Didn't like iOS. Samsung Galaxy S is above our budget and the cheaper range doesn't have NFC.

JB Hi-Fi has 20% off Moto phones on Black Friday.

  • Get pixels or iPhones if updates are important to you.

  • Don't like iOS. Will check out the Pixel. Thanks.

  • The newer galaxy A are getting 4 major updates and 5 years of security updates. They're not as cheap as the motorola, but it'll last longer.

    • Why would it last longer? How many updates will the Motorola get? And they can still work without updates?

      • The latest Moto edge range will get 3 years of security updates. The cheaper models only get 2 years.
Our Motorola phones still work without updates. Without security updates, the phone can be hacked easily. We had an old Motorola G4 that was hacked several times last year. Factory reset didn't make any difference. There were unusual phone calls and text messages made from the phone but it wasn't us.

  • Thanks all.

  • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G 128GB will be reduced to $599 (from $999) at JB Hi-Fi on Black Friday.

Not sure how much Pixel 6a will be reduced. Telstra had Pixel 6a for $549 last month.

Would Samsung be a better buy than Pixel 6a? Higher RRP.
Both have similar updates and don't come with charges (unlike Motorola).
