Cheap Frozen Meal Delivery for Gaining Weight

Hello,

I am looking for a cheap, high-calorie frozen meal delivery service for my father.

He suffers from parkinsons and shakes all day. This burns thousands of calories and has caused him to be very skinny.

He has food in the house but its just hard for him to cook. I want to get a meal delivery service to his place so I can track his eating.

Does anybody have any good recommendations? We live in WA so some services we cant get.

Thanks!

someone close to me had issues with weight gain some years ago and the dietician suggested looking at Sustagen as an additional meal supplement. ymmv best to talk to a dietician.

I was going to suggest milkshakes too, provided he can digest it without issue.

    • Dieticians can set up a meal plan for him and he can get milk powders or even little bottles of ensure milks. They're cheaper than what you get at the supermarkets and delivers to the door.

Is Meals on Wheels an option? Did a few delivery rounds with them when I was youngster and they do a bit of a welfare check and have a bit of a chat when they drop off meals.

I really like MyMuscleChef when I used them ages ago. Most pros for me were:

    • Serves were a bigger size then the others I tried, which kept me fuller for longer (as they deal with muscle they may be more better for weight gain too?)
    • Tasted way better then I expected, obviously not restaurant quality but I was buying frozen foods at coles at one stage and there's a difference
    • I just pick out the meals I like and then it comes delivered (though I guess this is true for many of them)
    • For some reason i was getting a voucher every month by text. This was nice because most places only give you a voucher before you are with them
    • I was able to combo with ShopBack. So I ordered x amount of meals which decreased the price, plus SMS coupon decreasing it more, plus shop back made to a fairly good grocery spend.

    Cons

    • If you don't heat it and let it leave for a bit opening the packing can be HOT or hard which may be difficult for someone with parkinsons
    • The box can weigh a bit with all the meals and ice which may be difficult also?
    • May need to eat multiple meals to bring up the calories
    • I imagine meals aren't as calorie dense as other options?

    what about shakes and smoothies?

I watched a doco where they gave those to anorexia patients.

  • this place has free shipping for orders above 250

  • Thank you for the help! We will start Shakes as this is a great idea that he has done in the past. He is going to get a dietician soon via NDIS to help. I will run my muscle chef past him. Looks good.

Muscle Chef is usually available at your local supermarkets/servos/gyms, etc so maybe pick up a few meals to try first before subscribing.

You can get prescription sustagen, strong stuff my old man had it when he had cancer.

  • cheap, high-calorie

That's the definition of fast food. But it's not good for you. I'd await advice from the dietician consultation.

  • ICE CREAM
    prove me wrong !

I have been doing muscle chef for the month and it's good and ok but honestly I found no difference to all the other convenience meals from Coles and Woolworths.

Personally after going a whole month of my Muscle chef I don't think I will be doing it again.

There was only a few items I really liked from their meal selection.
