    2x16 sticks 3600mhz cl18 were seen for only $120.41 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736676

Now if you were to buy 2 kits totalling 64GB 3600mhz CL18 it would equal to $240.82 excluding shipping (shipping around $12.5 last time I checked), I'll assume 64GB is the end goal and having 2 or 4 sticks wont matter.

It's been tested and proved that CL16 beats CL18 in almost every criteria however only by a small margain something along the lines of 4% max depening on the game. Is it worth the extra $107.88 though?

Just a thought, not here to start an argument.

3600CL18 will probably be fine but you might not get the XMP settings on some CPU/mobo combos if you take 2 kits of 2 DIMM and run them in 4 DIMMs
it's a real YMMV situation. MSI's boards usually let you know what to expect from 4 DIMM configuration nerfs

      • Thanks for that, noted.

For ITX users, its the 64GB via 2 sticks rather than 4 that carries some weight.

Good thought however - there are a few drawbacks as mentioned.

The main focus being lack of RGB - I am joking, but it is worth more to someone who wants it.

Some IMCs may not handle this speed + timings over four sticks.
As mentioned some boards can be quirky with 4x sticks as opposed to two and you lose speed (less of an issue these days, however).
You're stuck with 64GB, for some people this won't ever be an issue but something to consider.
ITX builds or builds with only 2x RAM slots.

They are technically CL16, but the other primary timings whilst not terrible they're not ideal. They'd assumably be able to be set to 16-17-17-36 1T or something a bit less aggressive for free performance but obviously with overclocking ymmv.

Good deal overall, thanks for sharing OP.

64gb is pretty much overkill, and calling it CL16 is a bit of a push with sub timings of 19….

    Frankly I'd pay a bit more for TEAM CL14 2x16gb sticks : https://www.pccasegear.com/products/54677/team-t-force-xtree…

Waiting for those to drop (black friday fingers crossed!)

      64gb is pretty much overkill

As in, you personally do not need 64gb, therefore, no one needs 64gb? Suuure…

As in professional game reviewers and system builders state there's no benefit, but do whatever you like nobody is stopping you.
I cannot believe I get negged for pointing out a fact, go ahead and throw your money at piss poor slow ram with questionable compatibility (i.e. see if you can find these in your motherboard and CPU QVL, you may be lucky). -

FACT 32gb of CL14 will give vastly better outcomes for anyone other than some video editing on the fly youtuber who likes doing CAD designs on the side… there are so few times 64gb is useful, I doubt if anyone commenting is using that much. Even 32gb is hard to argue for in the majority of users cases.

The CL timing is the first of the 4 commonly mentioned primary timings.
It could have 16-40-40-90 timings, CL is still 16 regardless of the others.

The kit you linked is only 32GB for an extra $68, unless you're into memory overclocking/timing tuning it's kind of overkill.

    • Gonna have to neg you on this too…

Like the other person said, just because you personally don't need 64GB doesn't justify calling it overkill.

2 games off the top of my head that can use >32GB easily…
      Digital Combat Simulator
      Cities Skylines
And there will be a handful more.

Then there are all the other absolutely valid uses for large amounts of RAM.

To then compare it with a MORE EXPENSIVE kit that is HALF THE SIZE is just plain stupid.

In DCS specifically the performance gain in the timings you mention will not compensate for the lack of available RAM a larger kit provides.

  • newegg has very tasty special right now: 15% off for order over 795 which brings 128GB of GSkill ddr5 5600GHz 36CL to under $1k, there are other options for nerds too )) eg: 128GB CAS 28: ~$1221.7

Looks like black Friday came to me early
OH CRAP it needs some stupid BitPay. No deal!
