I've been using a double edge safety razor for years and this seems like a pretty great price for anyone wanting to give it a whirl. I have sensitive skin and DE shaving is much gentler than disposable razors (for me - your experience may vary)

I’m so happy with this one. My plastic disposable Gillete shavers I bought from Costco 5 years ago just ran out. I know, didn’t know better. So much plastic wastage. So searched for a more permanent solution and saw this on Amazon. I was pretty stoked with the quality and how good it was for shaving. Also looks like a buy it for life thing.
I was so happy with this one so I searched the history and invention. it has been around for 100 years.
Also, I bought a cheapo cover on aliexpress for 3 bucks delivered. Cause the blades are exposed and I want to store it properly.
Price seems to be/returned to $18.90 for me
Damn, missed it.
Price back up to $21/ S&S18.90.Coles frequently have it for $15 so just keep an eye out
Is this the same one? If so, also $15?

yep the same but without the $1.50 S&S discount
Cheers, confusing with the two listings…
Amazon wont let me buy this?? I tried on mobile app too.
Clicking buy now takes me to my empty cart, clicking add to cart says 'not added'.Yeah, I'm having the same. Ah, bummer.
No don't bother - anyone reading this - I was convinced by the double edge razor blade gang a year ago with this exact deal. To be fair I was wanting to give it a whirl before OzB gang.
Been shaving for 20+ years - i get baby smooth skin with a 2 pass method with Gillette Fusion and (Turbo back in the day) catridge. To get the same smoothness with this takes longer. For something I do daily (due to growth) I'm happy to pay the premium for the cartridge and the time saving. The only thing I didn't do, is use an 'appropriate' shaving gel, however, as I type this I could give my King of Shaves oil a go with this.
Usually always a technique thing too unfortunately. Some people have no issues at all learning the technique for the DE safety razor and it just works fine on their skin (no irritation) and with their facial hair growth, but I would say most people need to get a fair bit of practice in before they can start to get better results. Especially in a reasonable amount of time, I've always been considerably faster shaving with a cartridge than a DE but enjoy the DE more now that I have practice under my belt.
It can definitely be a money saver in the long run if you put in the effort to learn it, but I think for most it will never be a time saver (and time is money I guess). Although for some it certainly won't be a money saver as they start to buy new razors and nice fancy soaps etc. But then it becomes more of an experience/hobby thing.
There is no right or wrong when it comes to what you choose to shave, there's pros and cons for both :)
Specifically for you, I don't think a better soap will help you with your core issues with it which is time spent shaving and closeness of the shave. Both of those are technique and will just come with lots of practice but I don't think it will ever be faster than cartridge. A better (more hydrated) soap will feel more slick and might help with a bit of a closer shave but more importantly will stop your face from getting as irritated.
Agree. When I got good using DE I'm even contemplating upping the game to using cut throat razors!
And those prorasos, man, they last forever
it takes time to learn to use it effectively. When I first started i was slow as (and cut myself several times). But stuck with it because i got a really close shave and much less irritation. Now that i've used it a lot if's very fast - and no cuts or irritation at all.
I personally love the feather double edge with the butterfly opening for blade replacement. It has a longer handle and is more comfortable for me. It metal where it need to be and plastic where it doesn't need the metal. It's only $28 with a pack of 5 blades. But for anyone who hasn't shaved with feather blades be careful. Some say they are too sharp and I tend to agree.
Also for the ultimate shave I actually use David Sumerset shaving oil after a shower and then foam on top. Comes out feeling smooth and then put some nivia potion on the face after. Comes smooth and confortavleWhat are people's thoughts on shaving your head with these? #baldcrew
Plenty of people who do it, just takes a fair amount of practice because you're reaching places you can't really see. IMO it's probably one of those places where unless you really want a close shave or are tight on cash (or just really enjoy the process), an electric shaver will do a quick and easy job.
Oh I already shave my head, jsut wondering if there is an difference from using a Mach 3 to one of these is all.
Not a fan of the electric shavers.
Oh yeah gotcha, the difference is that cartridge razors have swivel mechanisms in them so you apply pressure and pull and it just cuts well. With one of these there is no swivels and magic, you have to hold it at the correct angle all the way around your head while not really applying pressure at all. In my opinion it would be a lot more difficult intially but after more practice be just as easy, I think it will always take longer though as you have to focus more and take care not to cut yourself.
The more blades that are on a shaver the worse the shave…
One blades all you need.
I've just got started with DE shaving but just wondering, what's the best way to dispose of the razor blades once you're done with them?
Money box. Safely dispose when it fills up. Been using the same money box for 10 years.
can anybody comment how what this is like compared to shaving with an electric razor? I've used an electric razor all my life, serving me incredibly well.
It is very different. It will get much closer than an electric razor but the skill to get there takes practice. Using a DE safety razor is very technique dependent, you have to get the right angle of the blade on your skin and you don't apply pressure to your face. Electric and cartridge razors are very forgiving for pressure and angle as they have mechanisms built in to swivel and stuff. You're much more prone to cuts and irritation when you first start out with a DE due to this. But when you have practice under your belt you'll find you can get a closer shave with less irritation with a DE than the other two.
I've been using safety razors for years, never really got the hang of it. But it's cheap and I like that it's old timey.
I use the Phillips One blade to trim then double edge razor for a 2 pass shave. Bought an artisan soap and have used Arko soap stick. Still going through different blades. Great money saver and way less skin irritation. You can also use sorbolene cream.
And remember a styptic pencil for those just-won't-stop-bleeding cuts
