This or the baseus one that’s about half the price of this?

    • i have both this is a lot better. do it once do it right..

  • +7

I've had one of these for 3 years, I work at home, nightshift - this is a game changer. I can't comment on other products, but I love the adjustable wireless remote control and the fact you can rotate the angle of the light within the housing. Happy to take any questions on this, I use mine 60 hours a week 🤪😬

    • How can you rotate the light? Mine just points down.

      • +2

You can spin the magnetic light tube within the housing - so the light points in your preferred angle.

        • Is there a way to change the colour? Mine is yellow for some reason.

    • Whats the benefit of this vs a say a lamp…?

      • +8
        • It is adjustable / dimmable
        • you don't see the actual light / LEDs
        • it clips on your monitor and can tilt to a range of angles
        • the ambient light significantly reduces strain on my eyes
        • it lights up my desk/keyboard without any shadow
        • +1

And it's out of the way.

      • “In the stillness of night never feel alone with a warm light beside you”

Seriously this is the best they could come up with?
        Plus the polished asymmetric design.

        • Nothing wrong with a bit of translation-bot output :)

    • Optimal angle/brightness to reduce eye strain?
I have one but can't seem to notice a big difference

    • +1

Doesn't it affect the way your screen (monitor) looks? I have just imagined that it will cause glare and/or light pollution.

      • I have this model and no, no glare. No light pollution too, most of it lands on your desk, the LEDs are angled

    • +1

does it work well on a curved monitor?

      • And does it work well using it as a back light instead?

      • +1

I have this model on a 32" curved and it works perfectly

        • +1

          thanks will grab one!

      • +1

i'm using it on my 27 inch curved monitor yeah it does work. the bit that rests on the screen itself is quite small.

        • awesome will get one then thanks!@

  • There’s a newer version of this light

  • +1

    Thanks for crediting
Heads up to hodl your horses for Black Friday. It will be cheaper as part of eBay’s Black Friday deals

These things are awesome, couldn't live without mine, although can't remember if I got the new model or this one 🤔

For anyone that has one, is there any way to have this light bar and also a webcam sitting on top of the monitor?

    • +1

I have the BenQ screenbar (which I believe has a similar structure) and I can put the webcam just fine.

      • Do you mean that you rest the webcam on top of the light bar, or perhaps next to it?

        • +1

I put it on top of the light bar; I tried to put it as center as possible, so that I don't have to tilt my head too much during video conference.
This is what it looks like: https://imgur.com/a/3kGSgQV

    • +1

yeah i have it and no i don't recommend.

Whilst possible the cylindrical shape means that it will slide… Had an online interview and it kept sliding and one of the interviewers was low key freaking out as i disappeared from screen because it was sliding. I didn't even realise until i saw his face.

$67.05, minus $6.07 coupon, plus $9.28 equals $70.26, plus a month delivery time?

  • I got one myself (not Xiaomi) and thinking the impact and longevity of having a clamp clamping really tight to the soft part of the monitor though, it seems so far so good.

    • +2

I have the xiaomi one, it doesnt clamp on the monitor, it just sits on top of it and has a weighted tail behind it that goes behind the monitor and a lip that goes over the front bezel of the monitor to stop it from falling back

      • i have xiaomi one, it still acts as a clamp and is indeed resting on the screen whilst exerting pressure tho. But I'm sure it's fine and they have done extensive testing.

        • 890>790 jk jk
          do u own a 790?

          • @Bacons: actually.. i don't even know lol. What's the difference? did they update it?

            • @dukeGR4: not really sure but should just be a better 790, not really familiar w KTM bikes. I just know I want a 1290sdr haha

              • @Bacons: oh damn… i thought you were talking about Xiami Light!!

When I made this account they only had 790 haha, thought if i added an "R" behind it would sound more tuff.

Super Duke is the touring sports bike one yeah? Yeah I like that bike.

But no, i don't own the 790, i don't even have a motorbike. I skrrt around in an E-Scooter, leeching off office's electricity too to charge it too.

Did some research: Yeah, they did in fact replace 790 with 890R. Now for 2022 model year it's just 890. Crazy to think 890 is the new "middle-weight" when it's closer to 1000cc than it is to 500cc.

                • @dukeGR4: haha yea the 890 is pretty new. Was thinking for sure this guy rides if they have duke 790 as a username. And yea actually the 790 and 890s are really light. the 890 weighs 166kg dry!!

                  • +1

@Bacons: hahha, i go by many handles - either after tanks, cars or bikes. mostly cars these days as I like cars.

And i take that you like bacon?

                    • @dukeGR4: similar story, mines is quite random. my phone at the time was a Oneplus One which was codename bacon and the singular form was taken.. so Bacons it is!

  • Can you control via smart app or google/alexa

Edit: found answer no smart connection on older model. Newer model does tho

  • Cheaper this time last year.

    • Inflation

      • This is Ozbargain.

        • Yes but comparing the price of something from a year ago when the dollar isn't worth as much isn't a great means of comparison

  • Is this the same light? for 69$ on Amazon.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Mi-Computer-Monitor-Light-Bar/dp/B…

    • Looks the same but perhaps also Gen1?

  • +1

Picked one up on the last special and love it, works well, is high quality, efficient and great to control with the wireless controller.

Fits on a LG 42 C2 for anyone interested too.

    • +1

I AM interested because I just bought that same LG. Thanks!

  • How is this one compared to BenQ?

    • +1

It's less than half the price for a start.

and I know of people having had a few issues with the BenQ controller so the BenQ isn't faultless despite the higher price.

I'd say this Xiaomi is much better value for money.
