[QLD] Looking for Recommendation for Solar Panel Installers - Brisbane

Probably a 6.6 or a 7.9 kW - no battery - obtained a few quotes as below but happy to get OzSolar recommendations

Single phase - / Perfect north facing roof - https://ibb.co/xMkhc6f

RACQ Solar 6.56kW - $8700
16 x Q.MAXX-G4 410 410W Panels
Fronius Primo GEN24 5.0
Fronius smart meter + water heater timer

PDR Energy 6.64kW - $6200
16 × Jinko Solar Tiger Neo 415W
Fronius Primo GEN24 5.0

MC Electrical 6.64kW - $9500

Update: these mobs look dead cheap - https://rydeenergy.com.au/residential/

I liked Fronius Primo GEN24 5.0 because it is battery ready for only a few hundred dollars extra (unlocking for battery is another 1k in the future)

Cheers!

    Why no battery ?

Because it doesn't make economic sense yet?

    • No battery rebate in QLD. Plus apparently it takes like 10 years to recoup the cost of battery? (amateur hearsay response here)

  • Look at solarquotes, they have a list of installers too.

  • Got a system recently installed from Quality Solar Systems in geebung. Great experience. They beat anyone else's price, let me choose the components I wanted, and the installers and service was very professional. They went above and beyond

We had our solar installed with MC Electrical about a year ago and we are happy with our installation. The installation was smooth, and workmanship was great.

Not sure where you are locating your inverter, but if you are sensitive to noise, it would be better to install the inverter outside of the house.

Every single installer that i got the quotes from recommended to install the inverter inside the garage saying that they are quiet. However, as i am sensitive to noise, i installed it outside and paid extra for the cover to protect it from sun. I am happy i had it installed outside as the inverter is emitting quiet loud noise while its in operation.

Also, they offered free fronious meter when i had my system installed which is really handy when i want to see both live and historical performance of my solar system.

Also, track this post for best FIT after your installation.

  • I got a 6.6k system with Q Cells and GoodWe inverter from QVolt Solar for $5800 earler this year.
They turned up when they said and installation was done well from what I can tell.
I originally wanted a Fronius inverter but the jump in cost wasn't worth it imo. Better to get good quality panels.

    • Apparently they have a referral program. Would you like to PM me your details so we can both get something hopefully? Your PM is turned off so I cannot message you. Cheers.

      • Looks like PMs are disabled because I am OS right now. Back next week and will message you if still interested.

    • Why do you think the money is better spent on panels? I feel the other way. From my research it seems to often be the inverter which dies first as it does a lot of the active work.

In my experience it has been the same too. My old system from the mid 2000's was going strong, but the inverter died. Panels are still great

Have prices gone up a lot? We had a 6.6kw system with 5kw Growatt inverter installed 2 years ago by Sync Energy for $2590, we were happy with the job they did. We had the option for Fronius but it didn't seem worth the extra $1100. Our contact was [email protected] if you want a quote

    • Yeah I was thinking the same thing, prices for the hardware must have gone up heaps unlike the quality of the installers these days

  • Keen 2B green are well regarded as are MC electrical.

  • One thing that doesn't get mentioned is that with a battery system you can go above the 1.33x inverter size when claiming STCs. If you're getting a GEN24 you might as well get a battery installed at the same time and put as many panels as you can physically fit, even on that East and/or West roof.
I had a GEN24 and battery installed a year ago and after a year of usage and export data, my payback time is calculated at 7 years total.

    • What is your panel, inverter, and battery size?

    • Would still like to know this.

      • Sorry, replied earlier outside of this thread…
        21.84kW panels, 15kW inverters (10kW GEN24 + 5kW standard) & 13.8kWh battery

  • 21.84kW panels, 15kW inverters (10kW GEN24 + 5kW standard) & 13.8kWh battery

  • Got a 6.8kW Enphase system installed today by Positronic, who did my FIL's place & are consistently recommended on Reddit & elsewhere. Very professional job (new meter box, board upgrade & CatchPower installed too) and they got it done in about 8 hours.

My question is, what do I do now? Ring my power retailer & advise I have solar and choose a plan? Search for alternatives?

  • Give Akshay a call from Sunlogics Australia, very happy with their workmanship and advice. https://sunlogics.com.au

    • website does not work

  • Any updates on who you ended up going with?

    • your PM is disabled. Or you can PM me and I will provide you the details.

      • Me to also please
