I have an Android tv. Is that going to work on tv like Skype Zoom WeChat or Team?

    • Would like to know as well

    • +1

It’s possible as it’s a UVC webcam. But note some Android TVs don’t have proper support on USB device at all

  • +2

How does this rate compared to the other ozbargain webcams?

  • +1

Can't find a detailed spec sheet but the basic specs say that it does 1920x1080 MJPEG @ 30 fps.
    YUY2 is presumably less.
It does have a real IR dot projector and camera for Windows Hello 4.1.

  • The RRP may be inflated, the Lenovo US shop is selling it for $34 USD.

    • That's a bit suss. But at $50.80 AUD plus shipping from the US, this could still be an OK deal I guess.

  • Thanks! Bought one

Darn. Bought this about a month ago for $90. Very happy with it so far. Plug it in to your PC, sit it on your monitor, and you never have to type your password again.

I also use it with 1Password (just have to type my 1Password login once a day). Hate typing passwords, so this is brilliant.

Mine is white and is the 510 model as opposed to the 500 (which this deal may or may not be). I couldn't find the difference between the two in terms of spec, in any case.

    • That’s the one I got with the free Lenovo credit. Ahh, good times.

Bitwarden you don't need to type your password at all!

  • Do I understand correctly but is this a limited audience offer not available to public?

    • If you have access to a .edu.au email address you can make an account on the Education Store.

  • How's this compared to the standard C922 Pro logi

    • I think the C922 Pro is the better webcam. Just hold up a piece of blank paper and turn off the auto exposure to get best results.

The only reason to go with the Lenovo is for Windows hello support.

  • I thought this was the Lenovo 500 FHD which is quite well known for being the cheapest Windows Hello compatible webcam, but it looks quite different in the picture so I think this is a different education only model.

The 500 FHD is either a lot chunkier or it looks like it uses a smaller webcam sensor. Either way just judging by the pictures and the price this Performance FHD seems like the better webcam.

  • Anyone know if there is a workaround if I don't have an .edu email address?

  • So I ordered one of these and it arrived today.

What a garbage webcam. Massive fov, with no controls, and it's flickery garbage regardless of what Hz/refresh rate it's set to. Just awful.

    • That's interesting, I am guessing I ordered it first as I posted this but is still saying Waiting to be shipped Est. Ship Date: 30/11/2022

I guess it can be returned. I will still give it a go, as I couldn't find anything with Windows Hello around this pricing.

      • "I will still give it a go, as I couldn't find anything with Windows Hello around this pricing."

Yeah not this particular model in your deal (I hadn't heard of this model until your post), but the Lenovo 500 FHD is known as the cheapest webcam with Windows Hello support.

      • I should have clarified, we ordered it from our supplier at work, not via this deal.

    • "Massive fov, "

You mean ultra wide lens? Maybe there is an option to crop in with software?

"with no controls, and it's flickery garbage regardless of what Hz/refresh rate it's set to. Just awful."

Maybe it's meant to be for Windows Hello and nothing else lol.

      • It doesn't have any software of its own so you're reliant on whatever app your using having controls for it. Some do, some don't.

Compared it to a lifecam 720p and the lifecam was head and shoulders better.

        • Yeah that's what I meant with software, cropping in with settings in Zoom etc.

Maybe there is some free open source software which gives you some control between the camera and the conference software? I don't know too much about it but I think something like OBS Studio can do that? But I guess not much point if the image quality is crap.

  • Anyone had any luck getting this enrolled in Windows Hello?
Basic drivers don't cut it and there's nothing to be downloaded from Lenobo.

  • I'm looking for a windows hello compatible webcam. I can't see a lot of difference based on the specifications to this alternate Lenovo 510 FHD Webcam (similar price point) Anyone out there with experience or suggestions?
