  • Just double checking but when it refers to text and calls TO international countries, that doesn't mean it works in those countries too? Would be too good of a deal at that price.

    • +1

      As per the T&C:

International inclusions from Australia to 15 selected international destinations.

  • In need of a plan.

I have boost and used around 100GB for the year.

Looking at boost again for $200 or Woolworths Mobile for :$140 for 100GB.

For Perth Metro is the optus network ok? Any other options

    • Network is OK. I get data drop off on the northern train line around whitfords and greenwood. Otherwise it's as OK as any other Optus provider

  • Just be careful when you are porting your number to Coles, leave sufficient time/days to port in. Mine still not done after 1 week and waiting. Previous service credit expired but it wasn't ported in a day, did a small recharge. Number ported out from previous service provider but Coles SIM not activate. Had to find another spare old SIM to recharge which I used before as the new interim $20 SIM they were offering still takes up to 4 hours which means I would be without service for that time period.

    • I think your issue is a little isolated. Mine took a few hours (4 hours Max I think)

    • same experience

  • The internet connection speed is horrobly slow in the Western suburbs of Melbourne (5 - 12 mbps) with (Catch and) Coles Mobile for my 2 children (17 and 20). Boost has it between 40 and 110 mbps, or up to 785 mbps with a 5G capable handset.

  • Is this available in-store? TIA

    • Bought it last week from Store. Had 2000 Flybuys Points added to my account as well (not sure whether that promo is still on)

  • For $20 difference, it's also worth considering Woolworth mobile which uses Telstra network

    • Won't be good for people after international calls, otherwise good plan.

      • Yes

According to my recent experience, it is almost the same as the Optus Prepaid service. Got the $120 one for $95 with 500 flybuys points 3 weeks ago. It does have some blackspots (No signal or 4G signal but without any internet flow) inside some buildings (E.g. shopping centres, my local Coles and Officeworks). But Telstra doesn't perform any better in these areas either.
And talking about the porting process, it did take a long time (over 15 hours in my case) to port my number from Telstra postpaid to Coles. There is even one guy on Whirlpool who said it took him over 3 days. So, leave sufficient time to port in.

Another recommendation for people who need Esim: Woolworths is currently having the $149 Amaysim sim card on sale for $119 till the 8th of Nov. It comes with 120G data and Unlimited international calls and SMSs to mobiles & landlines in 28 countries and Unlimited data banking. After you activate the sim card, you can then apply for an esim replacement in the APP.

Thanks Pantsu Senpai, could you put up the link for the Woolies Amaysim deal please? I can't find it.

      • @Pantsu Senpai also chasing this for my dad. Thanks mate.

Found this from googling 'amaysim' and 'woolworths'

        https://amaysim.com.au/149

could be a repeat of this deal and in store only. So best to check your own woolies store.

Here is a photo of it. Check your local store. They might not have the discount sticker but you can ask the staff to check the price for u.
*Edit: I took this photo at Woolworths QV, Melbourne.

  • Does anyone have prior experience using this AND Catch Connect? Both Optus MVNOs. Was hoping to get back to Catch Connect but Coles may be more competitive,

    • +1

I had Catch a couple of years ago on a Samsung, it worked fine, but it had the odd missed call. Might have been because of where I was, no such problems when I was at home.
My wife has Coles on her older iPhone (6s) and again, she misses the odd call but rarely while she is at home.
No problems with data speed on either plan, and no customer service problems on either

  • Anyone know whether I can receive SMS while overseas on this plan?

    • You need to add the International Roaming add-on and then you'll. They started offering this recently. Great value add.

  • Activate within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised in the promotion

Does this mean it needs to be purchased AND activated by the 22nd Nov ?

    • New services only. All data allowance is applied upfront after $119 payment and activation. Offer ends 22/11/22, unless withdrawn earlier.

The way I read it is the $119 deal expires on 22nd Nov, so you will need to buy the sim before then, afterwards it will go back up to $150.

Activate within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised in the promotion, whichever is earlier, to get advertised inclusions.

I'm not sure if this is applicable since there are no 'advertised inclusions', which I assume is something like bonus data.

Ofc these are all speculations, best to contact Coles about your scenario and see what they say. If you do, make sure to get a copy of transcript in case they go back on their words.
