Very fast and good price. Most retailers have this around $500.

You may be confused with the WD SN850 without heatsink. This is the 2TB WD SN850X with heatsink. Two completely different models.
Yeah you are right, do you think its cheap or hodl?
Can you resist the impressive benchmark figures? Or, after seeing Samsung 990 Pro figures, you found the 850X isn't as impressive?
The reality is PCIe gen 4 x4 mainstream SSDs is overkill for most of us. These SSDs are mostly either for bragging or numb our brains.
@netsurfer: last year i bought 980 pro samsung… i put it in my gen 3 laptop, no difference at all. I am thinking to put that in my ps5 and the old m.2 ssd back to my laptop.
I needed one for my ps5 right now, Not sure would this be a good deal or not…. didnt know 990 pro is already in the market. let me search@Zeee: Samsung 980 Pro is fine for PS5 just make sure to update firmware before removing from laptop as some models will show lower speed on PS5 if not on later firmware.
@User50301: samsung magician i believe keeps it up to date. But man, 990 Pro is a real deal killer… what an amazing drive… watched the reviews and its blazzing fast.
@Zeee: Yes the magician software will update the firmware. If money is no issue then 990 pro is a good option but if you already own multiple drives then 980 pro will also work well in a PS5.
@Zeee: PS5, you most likely want a ssd heatsink. For PS5, I would go for a cost effective PCIe gen4 SSD.
We've seen better deals with Seagate 530 or SN850. 850X and 990 Pro aren't going to be cheap for now. Also, if you want to really take advantage of those, you need a PC.
If you get this for PS5, it's mostly for bragging rights. This is essentially a controller upgrade over SN850. The NAND chips seem the same.
Try getting one now.
@donman92: No thanks, go for samsung 990 pro

This one includes heatsink, the other one doesn't.
Thanks. Looked the same didn’t realise the heat sink
Looks like a good deal? Firecuda 530 with heatsink 2TB cheapest right now is $430.
What does the 'X' in SN850X indicate?
How is this different to SN850 (without the X)?
For gender non-binary
The SN850X is a four-lane PCI Express 4.0 drive employing 112-layer TLC 3D NAND flash memory (versus the 96-layer TLC NAND flash of the SN850). It's manufactured on an M.2 Type-2280 (80mm long) "gumstick" printed circuit board and uses the NVMe 1.4 protocol over the PCIe 4.0 bus, with a homegrown WD/SanDisk controller.
The heatsink is equipped with RGB lighting, customizable via the WD Dashboard utility (The non X Has no heatsink for RGB!! )
SN850X has a revised controller, which is designed to better compete with Phison E18 based SSDs (Kingston KC3000, Seagate 530).
The main improvements is on the SLC cache portion.
Obligatory question asking how well this particular model performs with a PS5? Anyone with one of these in their consoles who can give an actual Read/Write number they got from the drive when they installed it?
This is a newer SSD (SN850X not SN850). It should perform slightly better than SN850. However, the reality is PS5 currently doesn't need / fully utilise high queue depth sequential read.
Honestly, unless you love transferring games between the m.2 SSD and internal SSD a lot, you are not going to notice much difference between majority of PCIe gen 4 SSDs. It's not PS5 cannot benefit from it, it is more that most game developers won't code games assuming some crazy fast sequential SSD load. Furthermore, SSD speed is still no where close to dedicated GDDR memory.
Yeah fair point mate, regardless, I’ve put an order through for one. Thanks to OP for posting the deal!
Any real reason to go with the heatsink version in a full tower case?
Heatsink version will generally run cooler and it has RGB lighting.
Hod.. nah jks I ain't missing out like I did with the 980pro deals.
Yeah, I super regret not buying that 2TB 980 Pro from Amazon. I could’ve had the extra storage months ago.
My package came in the mail today to have everything but the SSD itself inside. Lucky for me I always take pics Before opening the package. Emailed the pics to amazon support and hey presto a refund was processed.
Welp, same thing here, received packaging & no SSD… Filmed my opening after hearing yours & and others on here with this issue.
Really annoyed I have to wait 2 business days for them to investigate before they’ll refund or w/ev.
Thanks OP, just picked one up. Seems like good value for money and although the 990 Pro seems slightly better all around, I doubt they'll be retailing for this price and I can't find info on when they'll be available in Aus.
Any deals on a 1tb I think 2tb for my ps5 is overkill
Before we see what Black Friday brings, Kingston KC3000 is a good choice.

Cool night just wait until then
New price update: $349.96
OOS
I just received my order today - but it appears the SSD has been stolen!
- The 'Package' was delivered by Australia Post (APG Global)
- The 'Package' was in a brown cardboard envelope/sleeve - it is SEALED
- Inside the package is the black WD_BLACK SN850X cardboard box
- However, the sealing of the box has been broken and the box has been open
- Inside the box, the warranty documentation and everything is there —- EXCEPT for the SSD
Has anyone experienced something like this before?
Who would have stolen it?
- The packer at Amazon UK warehouse?
- Australia Post?
- A customs officer?
This is insane!
I contacted Amazon, and they have agreed to refund me, however I can no longer order again since it is obviously out of stock now!
Hey mate,
I just received mine in the mailbox today and had the exact same issue.
SSD card was gone from the box and sealing had been broken.
Amazon would only refund the order and couldn't get another one also.
My package came in the mail today to have everything but the SSD itself inside. Lucky for me I always take pics Before opening the package. Emailed the pics to amazon support and hey presto a refund was processed. This is wild.

Ordered one and happened too me also. Packaging open and ssd missing, but mine had a sn850 not sn850x piece of cardboard in it.
noticed the shipment packaging and item packaging was only weighed in as 0.11 for the whole thing, it was sent like that from amazon to begin with.
i told them not possible the item, product box and shipment packaging can only weigh 0.11 and sent them photo of the courier confirming the weight and agreed too refund. not possible the shipment packaging, item, and item product box can only weight that much.
So what could be the reason? A thieving employee at the Amazon UK warehouse?
I would assume so.
I tried asking them for more details on what may have happened and they would not say anything.
Mine arrived yesterday and everything was there with the seals intact. It's really unfortunate to hear that a few of you didn't get your drives.
@proudwanderer what was the weight on your package? mine was barely 100g…. for shipping packaging and everything included.
Oh think it was 0.12, but I've thrown out the packaging in anger - and can't find it anymore
@proudwanderer mine was 0.11 dont think possible drive with heatsink, shipping packaging and product box weigh that much only, i believe amazon uk sent it like that.
1tb was less than 150$ but this one is 170$.. dont think its a deal
