Reviews place this SSD on par with the Samsung 980 Pro. Not a well known company outside Asia but they make great stuff.

Never heard of it but looks like it has a tonne of good reviews, seems promising.

    • I ordered two. The heatsinks come off so it'll fit nicely with my build.

  • Here's a review for anyone that's interested. Techpowerup rates it very highly.

From the comments 'can the article be updated to show the bait and switch that Netac pulled? retail models don't have Phison E18/Micron, instead they ship with Innogrit IG5236 and YTMC 128L 512gbit 3D TLC. it's still a good SSD if the price is right and you buy from a store with a warranty, in CIS countries it's pretty popular.'

TweakTown's review says there's an explanation for this:
Now, a variable BOM can and has been a point of contention in the past as some companies have hidden the hardware changes or made inappropriate changes, like swapping TLC for QLC. Netac is very upfront about its products with a variable BOM. They told us upfront that the controller and flash for its NV7000 series are not fixed and may be produced in various configurations, but all configurations will meet its stated performance specs. We are fine with this because it ensures Netac can deliver more value inherently because they are not wed to any particular controller or flash.

cool thanks, was just pointing out a query - not sure why the negs haha

        • +1

Right, but the good reviews and the benchmarks are based on the golden sample version.

They can promise that they meet the minimum specs, but 1) are the minimum specs any good, as opposed to the real world numbers achieved by the 'good' version carefully selected for benchmarks? and 2) are those promises actually kept?

    Would be good for PS5?

  • ahh I have a 970 Evo 500GB that is running a bit low on storage, would the 1TB Netac perform much better in real world anyone think?

    • I have a 970 Evo too. Techpowerup says this outperforms it. Review is linked in my other comment.

  • That USD to AUD conversion rate is way off.

I have a Netac 500gb ssd in a media box. Hasnt skipped a beat in 2 years

Code '11DSale12' brought the 2TB down to $213.18

    • any idea of a code for the 1TB?

      • +3

        11DSale7 or 11DSale3 might work

        • +2

Thanks heaps 11DSale7 brings it down to 131.80

          • +2

@Duplicity: just cancelled and reordered with that code. my life is now complete with the extra $12.

    • How did you find the code? I didn't see that option when I placed an order.

      • +1

I googled 'aliexpress code australia' and just tried a bunch of codes.

  • Just wondering how to claim warranty if anything goes wrong

  • If I don't want to wait 4 weeks for delivery of this very sharply priced 2TB NVMe drive, what are my other options…?

PCI4, DRAM and 2TB are the main desired features.

    • I'm not a Samsung fan, but does this tick suit? https://www.amazon.com.au/SAMSUNG-Internal-Gaming-MZ-V8P2T0B…

      $259, gen 4, 2Tb

It is with a price way lower than normal from a seller with no review. I will be wary.

        • yep true, well spotted. was just a quick look.

    • Fly to China and get one there… XD

    • Personally had something from aliexpress arrive 3 and a half weeks earlier than the site predicted, but YMMV when it comes to aliexpress.

  • Never heard of them, and other than TechPowerUp giving them a glowing review there's been no mention of them in any of the usual channels/review sites.

Might be bigger in China, but that's pretty useless for support here.

As a 5 second look on Amazon for example: https://www.amazon.com.au/WD_BLACK-SN750-Internal-Gaming-Sol…

WD Black 1Tb NVme gen 4 for $141 delivered. Well known brand (reviewed everywhere and has established support lines), and has Amazon Prime protection.

I don't see the value in OP's deal at all.

    • funny that you changed from one lower end SSD (crucial P5 to WD Black) but if you look at the reviewed read/write speeds you should be able to figure it out

      • I found a better deal that might assist others, so I changed my link 10 seconds after posting it. Get a grip. And there's nothing wrong with the Crucial P5. I own one.

        • -2

well within your rights, just thought it was funny, not sure why you're up in arms about it - anyway as I said there's a decent performance difference so.. that's the deal? obviously support is questionable but wcyd

          • +3

@Duplicity: If claimed read/write is most important (I still reckon this "Netac" isn't proven by any stretch but I'll take it at face value), here's an updated version of WD Black with equivalent read/write: https://www.amazon.com.au/Black-SN850X-NVMe-SSD-1TB-dp-B0B7C… $188.43 delivered with Prime protection. Plus you'll get it in less than 2 weeks vs a month or more. Yes it's $40 more, but I'd rather the reassurance of a known brand and after sales vs OP's one. But each to their own.

This just seems ripe for a rip-off. No-name brand, based in China (good luck on getting a return or warranty), who openly admit to using whatever parts they can get their hands on to make these things.

The fact that reviewers got a version that rivals way more expensive brand name SSDs really seals my suspicions - That's CLASSIC Chinese dodgy playbook, make a handful of super high end models, send it out to reviewers and early adopters to get a great rep, and then send out loads of trash after the reviews are set in stone (99% of them won't be updated or retracted!).

The chances of you getting one with rubbish performance or unreliable parts is just too high when it's made out of lowest-bidder components and you're unlikely to get a refund while they're safe in China with your money if you discover it doesn't meet their promised specs or it dies due to bottom of the barrel Chinese nand.

    • +1

Ya its often referred to as the "Golden Sample" method.

Similar to how reviewers are often given the top-tier models to review when lower tiers are missing features or build quality.

  • Has anyone who took this deal had their order ship yet?

Mine hasn't moved… aliexpress is saying it'll auto-refund if it doesn't ship in the next day or so. 😟
