Aren’t these less than $10 for a 2m basic one at Kmart? Other than the 7.5m what else is worth the asking price?
Mate it's gold plated, did you not know that it's going to improve the audio quality by absolutely sweet fck all?
Umm no. I don't think you know what a TOSLINK cable is….
Umm I don't think you know what sarcasm is….
Save your $.
I thought I was the only person still using toslink.
There are times when it is useful. For example when your PC is connected directly to your computer to get 4K@120hz but you want your amp to play the sounds not your TV speakers.
What makes you think they're not common? I thought Toslink and Coaxial were still pretty common in 2 channel audio? I personally use it to send sound from the TV to my DAC and amp.
I see them fairly often with people using older soundbars. Also on cordless headphone bases some oldies use with their TVs.
Also, if you are using a regular stereo amp (ie: without an HDMI input) for audio, a lot of new TVs nowadays don't include an RCA stereo out but have an optical out, so to get audio from your TV it has to go via optical, usually to a DAC and then the amp.
I'm a regular here for optical to DAC for use on our TV ratings gear.
Still using Toslink to connect my AndroidTV box to Z5500 system in the bedroom. Natively does DTS 5.1, the box converts anything newer into DD.

Thank you for your input
Oh I'm so incredibly relieved they added this feature. Without it I was terrified that my entirely optical connection via a plastic cable with a plastic connector would be destroyed by corrosion.
