Hi all,

Just saw an ad on Facebook and Bob Jane T-Marts is having 30% off Pirelli Tyres. Slightly better (5%) than the buy 3 get 1 free deal

Edit: Thanks bryans for informing us that this deal is also available at Jax Tyres and the price may be cheaper there, so make sure you check before purchasing.

Not a bad deal. I was going to wait to see if MyCar do their half price Pirelli deal again this November.

    • +3

Ooo didn't know that they did that last year. I need two tyres replaced so might actually wait it out and see if a better deal comes along. Thank u!

      • +4

Yeah, they've done it the last couple of years. It's a real OzBargain shit fight getting a booking though https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/665952

        • +6

Can confirm. Called my local MyCar, ordered a set of 4 Pirellis, couldnt get them fitted for 2 weeks, arrive on the day to be told that there were none in stock (WTFF) and the offered me Continentals at half price. The Contis were budget line and really crap compared to the Pirellis and the same price I was quoted weeks beforehand.

Spose I don’t really have to say I don’t recommend them based on my experience (and two other experiences I won’t go into here) but if you skipped directly to the end, don’t go thru MyCar.

          • @Andoes: Bought four in the 2020 half price deal. MyCar installed one tyre on backwards but I never notice until my mechanic told me six months later. Great tyres, just passed rego with 50K on them.

            • @[Deactivated]: What exactly does backwards installing even mean. Not too many tyres are directional, because that would mean you couldnt rotate tyres the traditional way.

              • @ATangk: Directional tread is my understanding. I bought the Pirelli Verde All Season.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: I am being completely sincere when I say ‘Lucky you!’

        • +1

Yeah, I got on first thing and their site went down right as I was checking out. I stayed up another hour trying to book and eventually gave up and went to bed. Luckily the website was working when I woke up and they still had stock where I was so I managed to grab 5 Pirelli Scorpions for just over $150 each which is cheaper than even the most budget A/T's in my size. They've been great so far.

It was on the 26 November 2021 Black Friday Sale

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/665952

        https://www.mycar.com.au/blackfriday

    • +1

I am need of all 4. Will definitely wait for MyCar deal

    • +1

Yep waiting for the same offer myself also

    • +2

MyCar also does the free 6 monthly rotation and puncture repairs - hopefully included if they do the 50% offer.

      • +5

I bought during their 2020 sale and can confirm been getting regular rotations done at no cost

      • I didn't know this. I rotate them myself every 10k but maybe next time they need done I'll drop it off for them to do. One has a slow leak so maybe I can get that fixed as well.

    • If Amex happens to have $100 off deal for MyCar at the same time it would be perfect!

  • +4

Jax Tyres have the same online offer. Prices may differ, so suggest checking both.

  • What is a T-Mart?

  • +10

30% off a $600 tyre is $420 which is what I paid for my P-Zeros at my local tyre shop.
If you live in Sydney get a quote from Tempe Tyres who generally have good prices, then price match at your local shop.

    • +1

At jax tyres pirelly verde All season 18" $355, at tempe tyres they are $265 lol
      Greedy bastardos)

  • +1

Hopefully Kmart has Black Friday sale this year😁

  • Perfect timing thank you OP!

  • Perfect given there is an outlet just down the road for me. Thanks OP.

  • +1

It's actually 7.14% better than the buy 3 get 1 free, not 5%
    I did the maths but could've failed.. 4x tyres at $100 is $400 . $400-30%=$280 . 20/280=.0714 *100 = 7.14%

    • +3

You changed your mind. I thought you had 6.67% earlier. I think that is more accurate.

    • Why did you do 20/280? Not saying it's wrong but it's been a few years since I was in the maths classroom so I couldn't figure out where it came from

      • +2

I think the 20 is the difference between 300 and 280 in hudcon's example.

        I did 100-280/300*100 to get 6.67

Where's @MathNerd when you need them?

        • I think you're right Muzeeb, thanks for the assistance

    • Buy 3 get 1 free but they may charge the fitting cost for the free one.

    • +1

This is incorrect maths by Hudcon

      You are confusing two scenarios.

      1. As a discount off initial RRP .. 30% in this case vs buy 3 get one free(25%) . 5% is accurate as a general discount

      2. As a final cost comparison between the two, to say "better" you must take into account the rate it is better than. See below

So at a cost of $100 per tyre, $300 is final cost with buy 3 get one free.

With 30% discount the final cost is $280

Therefore 20/300 equals 6.67% "better" than the buy 3 get one free in terms of cost comparison of final amount incurred.

      • Yes I said 6.67% in my OP before editing it

    • then they will sting ya for 4 X wheel balancing, 4 X tyre disposal.

  • I'm a little conflicted, current tyre size is 265/30/20 and tyres don't often go on sale in this size. I've done some brief reading and most people will say that the yokohamas and michelins make a noticeably superior performance tyre. Any have experience with those over the P-zeros, is this deal too good to consider the other brands?

    • Woah!

RS4, M3 or Boxster? Please don't say AMG.

      • haha, don't laugh, A5

        • +1

Sweet looking sportback in my opinion

        • A5 and your looking at p-zeros 🤦 honestly a waste of money. Just get cheap winruns (r330) there pretty good price and grip is excellent even in the wet

          • @Bretttick: I don't see them in my size

            • @FR3D99: If you got 15's your out of luck I know they don't make that size. Not sure what the smallest size is I have 18's. I get mine from tyroola when they have specials

    • +1

they're probably fine for an A5 but yes Michelin and Yoko are both better

      • From a quick ebay search, these Advan Sport V105's have shown up for $365 a piece in the right size. It's a bit of an outlier as it's so much cheaper than any other retailer but if they are serious, then is the V105 better than the pirellis? Or should I only look at the V107s.

        • what do Michelin PS5 cost? I'd get those

          • @drprox: From what I can see it doesn't seem they come in 265/30/20

    • I face the same issue, additionally front and back are different size. So buy 4 get one free doesn’t work for my case.

    • +1

It just depends what you are after the Yokohamas and Michelins will give you more performance (aka better grip) but are made out of a softer compound so wont last as long. If you just want the best tyres you can get regardless of cost i would definitely go the Michelins or Yokohama. The P Zeros i have on my car and I will admit are not as good as the softer compounds but still work really well. I personally think it is the perfect balance between performance and longevity. As an example the Michelins pilot sports 4 would only go 15k on my car whereas the Pirellis would go 40k+.

      • thanks, this is a good point to think about, leaning towards the pirellis again then

        • Not to forget better FC too.

  • Absolutely a perfect timing OP! Just placed an order for 4x tyres swap! Let's see if they will confirm the order with stock!

  • +5

Check out tyroola as well as their price for 4 can be a bargain.
Last night I ordered 4 Continental MC6 225/45R18s with delivery, install, balancing and alignment for $855. Bob Jane was $1050 after $150 cashback and that was the best price phoning them

    • +1

Got a pop up giving 15% off Pirellis there too.

      • Tyroola lets you to add alignment for most install places too, Bob Jane will charge $70 on site

    • +1. Just to add to this for those in Perth, used Tyroola who sent Mobile Tyre Guys out to my house to do the job. Great bloke and will contact him directly next time to beat any quote

  • Good enough for me. Mercedes wants $800 to replace my front tyers. Now save $300 with this deal :)

    • Which brand and model is it?

    • back in the day Mercedes would charge $680 for a windscreen that Mobile windscreen man would charge everyone else and billed the Merc dealership $170 ! yeeee-haaa!

  • I assume the BobJane price includes fitting and wheel balancing? I can't find mention of that anywhere on the site. It does have 'Click & Fit' on the tyre page.

Ah, it's mentioned in the Specifications of the tyre. Included 'Our prices are inclusive of GST, fitting, balancing, tyre disposal, tubeless valves (excluding tyre pressure monitoring systems) and Australian wide warranty.'

    • It doesn't include alignment though, dealer told me that's an additional $70

      • +1

No, but that’s good for an alignment.

        • Yep agreed, just important to note when comparing prices across sites, you really should get alignment done on new tyres

      • $79 for wheel alignment at my local Bob Jane.

Scorpion ATR Plus LT easily the best 4WD AT tyre i've ever had. Great price!

    • They are absolutely fantastic tyres.
They completely changed the ride of my vehicle, better than upgrading the suspension.
Less noise and more grip than my BFG all terrains BUT the BFGs were slightly better off road. There's no way I would go back

  • Hi Guys
need a help , Plan to change the tyres for my toyota hilux, which tyre which is good ? Pirelli SCORPION ALL TERRAIN PLUS vs Pirelli SCORPION ATR
    thank you

    • Just put scorpion all terrain plus on my hilux about a month back, in 265/70/17. Seem pretty good so far, they are a pretty aggressive all terrain so will probably get loud as they wear

      • Mine are 50,000km old and not that noisy at all. With the way they're wearing, should get 90,000km + out of them easily.

However in saying that, the LT's are a bit chunkier than the normal ones.

    • Plus are much better, more aggressive and last longer (if rotated)

    cinturato or verde all seasons?

    for SUV 225/55r18

    • +1

The cinturato looks to be a road based tyre so probably not a good choice if you do occassionally drive on un-sealed roads.
I have been using the Scorpion Verde All Seasons on my Forester for several years now and they have been performing very well for me.

  • Just got 4 scorpion all terrain plus.

    Pretty overdue

  • Any recommendations for replacement for Contisport contact 5 -the tyres are no longer available and are for VW wagon.

  • I have 225/45R17 91V but can i get 225/45R17 94W?

    225/45R17 94W has a special price.

Difference is the 91V and 94W

    • Load rating and speed rating.

Look at the tyre placard inside your driver's door jamb (possibly elsewhere) for the minimum load rating. You can go higher but not lower.

Speed rating will be bugger all unless you frequently travel on the German Autobarn.

      • cool thanks. I am going higher. should be good then.

  • +1

If we order online, do their price includes the Fitment & Wheel Balancing??

    • Yes I would like to know this too does not say anything about that anywhere ??

    • Yes but not alignment which is $70-80 extra

      • Alignment is the biggest crock of sh!t!, if you current tyres haven't worn out strangely then there is no need to get a wheel alignment on your new tyres. If you insist on getting a wheel alignment, then get the report, you'll see SFA change in the before and after measurements. It's a Tyre Shop rort and No.1 Money earner.

  • 215/75/15 ATs non-existent these days in Pirelli it seems. Need 5 new tyres for the Jimny but no bueno, this would have been great.

  • Any good tyre recommendations for kia Sorento s please

  • Honda Euro tryes 225/45R17 94W.
4 Bridgestone Potenza RE003 for $660 or Pirelli Powergy for $560. Thoughts?

  • Any good recommendations for Holden Commodore Sv6?

    • VZ, VE, VF?

  • +1

Just bought. Had a look at mycar and even with 50% off it would end up more expensive…..
