Just a friendly update.
I've been eyeing this on ebay for the last 4 hours while looking up reviews/specs and it's gone "sold-out" three times now (cue mini heart attack).
But each time after about 5-10 minutes it'll miraculously re-list with "only 5 available", again.
So don't feel too pressured into buying just because there is "5 left".
P.S. It's also listed on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/AMD-Ryzen-5600G-12-Thread-Processo…
Seems to also be in the spend and save (at least the one I've got) which takes $15 off it making it $167.
Nice!
Covers a bit more than delivery costs, so free postage and $2 off.
That's better than the official store website.
I'm glad to see supply has finally returned to the market.
12 months ago I was scrounging for an entry-level ryzen, the best I could manage then was a second hand 3600 for $250.
Anyone have an opinion if there is a reason to upgrade from a 3400G for a Plex server?
3400G has Vega 11 iGPU vs. Vega 7 on the 5600g, but then I believe the clocks are higher on the 5600g. Wouldn't really make any difference for Plex though anyway. 5600g has 2 more cores, 4 more threads. Also once again higher clocks as well as newer cores and process node. Also not likely to make much of a difference with Plex though, unless you were software transcoding multiple streams. 5600g should definitely be more efficient, but that's about it.
Thanks for that, mainly just Plex server and some email and word processing use.
Never had any slow down streaming multiple 4k files, probably not even using transcoding.
I upgraded from 3400g to 5700g, really depends, the Vega in these is better than what was in the 3400g, despite the naming it’s better https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-5-5600g-revie… but it’s not night and day difference, what is the benefit is 5000 has a more competent cpu
any cheap miniITX boards for this one?
MSY have also dropped their price.
So based on all these deals popping up for $169 - $189* , it seems like there's no need to rush into a purchase.
Guess we can hold out for the Black Friday & Christmas sales.
*Note: depending on whether postage is 'free' or an additional cost
E.g. Scorptec Website $169 + ($12 to $16) postage vs Scorptec Ebay $182 + 'free' postage.
Umart have now also followed suit.
$172 delivered on Scorptec ebay with code MCPAY10V4 - 5 available
