  • Does anyone know how tell if a charger can support button top batteries? I have 21700 button top and they're too long for my nitcore d4.

What brand and type of button top?

Klarus and Olight button tops might have a proprietary connector with -/± at one end. XTAR VC2L works.

21700 with built-in charging like Weltool and Cyansky are pretty long. Chargers that say they support protected 21700 cells may work.

21700, 21mm by 70mm approximately. Protected button tops might be closer to 80mm.

      • Samsung I believe, they're certainly longer than my flat top 21700, which struggle to get into the d4.

    That ZebraLight is a steal.

    • Yeah seems to be a good price and the zebra light appears to be highly rated

    • I only just bought one (600Fw) for 30% off, now it’s 40. Haven’t even received it in the mail yet.

I’m just weighing up where to get an Xtar VC4 from and an 18650 battery.

Fw is slightly different to the H600d. Different beam pattern.

        tinkertechau have cells

        • piggy backing off this, can you tell me what the difference in beam pattern is? I can't seem to find any direct comparisons. Seems D is cooler colour than W but not sure about FW?

What are your thoughts on 600D vs Sofirn SP40A from here? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/732387#comment-12846524

          • @fufufu: H600d Mk IV, Cree XHP50.2 LED 5000K CCT 90 CRI, Orange peel reflector, clear lens. It will produce a white hotspot with a slightly green circle around the hotspot that fades into a wide spill with a hint of purple. It's known as a "cree rainbow". The orange peel reflector will help mix the beam. Colour rendering index is higher, colours may seem more vibrant and less washed out. The delta u, v is probably slightly negative so the beam produced may have a very slight hint of green to it overall. The lack of frosted lens allows the beam to throw further.

H600Fw Mk IV, Cree XHP35 LED 4500K CCT 80 CRI, smooth reflector (?), frosted lens. I like this LED combination in my SC64w HI. The beam looks neutral. There's no "cree rainbow". The frosted lens will make the beam slightly floody. The CRI is a little lower. It may look washed out.

IMO H600Fw beam will look nicer, it'll be floody, but it may not throw as far.

H600d vs Sofirn SP40A. Sofirn headband is a bit smaller and may be uncomfortable on large heads. The size of the headlamp is going to be a bit larger with built-in charging. The SP40A has a TIR optic so the beam will have a hotspot that transitions smoothly into the spill. The H600d will have a more defined circle/ring where the spill ends. The option to use a 18350 tube is nice, and the magnet is handy. H600d doesn't have a magnet in the tailcap and you can't use an 18350.

The SP40A with 18350 tube is going to be about as long as the H600d with an 18650 cell. ZebraLight make fairly compact 18650 headlamps and torches. The electronics in the ZL are potted and the driver may be a bit more efficient. It's a bit hard to compare. You get bang for buck with Sofirn but better quality with ZL.

  • Hey team! I was wondering if I could get a recommendation for a headlamp suitable for running, preferably rechargeable. Looking to spend on the cheaper end of this hopefully around $50ish

    Any recommendations?
