Is this better/different than any other scales around this price that essentially guesstimates based on weight and height?

    • +2

Independant online/buyer reviews suggest that it's fairly accurate and good value for the price. I grabbed one for the house so we'll see!

      • How much more accurate would this be versus a Samsung watch that has body composition functions?

        • +1

Just tried measuring with my Galaxy Watch 4. Tried 7 times and it never finished, always complaining to move the watch, don't move, bla bla. Never worked properly. And I've seen reviews about it being meh, so I gave up.

About the scale, I have that one, and the body fat was on point with the manual calliper that I used to compare.

Can't vouch for the other stats though, like bone density and whatnot.

          • @l o l: Is this more better and accurate than the whitings scale that was on sale at jb a few months ago?

            • @ATTS: @Triton Sorry, don't have experience with other scales.

My renpho scale is really good. Watch 4 body fat estimate is way off

          • @mlburnian: @mlburnian is the renpho body fat and composition accurate?

@WordsToSayIt: Yes its good enough for average user. If you are competing in fitness modelling probably not

    • Yep, been having this for 6 mos, pretty happy! Eufy app has google fit sync too

If it was smart, it would tell my wife she's 7kg less then in reality and of course that dress doesn't make her bum look big.

    Artificial Intelligence isn't.

    • +2

True AI would respond with "ask your husband"

      • True AI may respond with " What do you mean, "look" big?", ending the experiment.

  • Motion detection?

    • Yeh. It’s a pressure pad

  • How accurate are these things?

Should be relatively accurate for weight but for everything else I wouldnt rely on the measurements.

Roughly speaking most men keep weight in their upper body and women tend to store in their lower body (android/gynoid). Foot body fat scales use electric bipedal measurements that measure the time taken for the electricity to move from one leg to another. This is then used in a calaculation to estimate body fat. That rough fogure is then used to guesstimate other factors like bone density/muscle mass (highly inaccurate).

Since the measurement is only taken in the lower half, the results may be more accurate for women vs men (e.g. consider a hand held version for a man). The main utility is the repeated testing as its a cheap version to a DEXA scan. For repeated tests, try and test at the same time of day and after similar intake of food/water and toilet activity (all those variables impact the speed of the electicity in the measure and impact the reading).

    • Probably not very, but day to day, as a way to check progress, good enough. You wouldn't compare a Withings to a Fitbit or Dufy, but you could compare todays result to last months, using the same scale.

Have been using this scale for years.

Excellent and accurate for keeping track of weight - solid app too.

Other "measurements" are a joke and not at all accurate.

I have this scale, it's good for measuring weight. Everything else is just weight to height ratio calculations. Won't trust other data for accuracy, good for guesstimate though.

  • Does it take batteries or is it USB-C charged?

    • Batteries but they last forever. I've had mine years and still on original battery.

    • 3xAAA and it comes with a set

Woohoo! Look at that blubber fly!

I want a Smart Ass scale that will say things like "one at a time please".

  • Tempting but no wifi. Think I'll stick to waiting for the Withings body plus to come on a good sale even though it's over double the price.

  • Thanks OP.

  • I have this scale and it works well! Am a fan.

  • Got one thanks OP

  • Looked at how multiple users work

You can do multiple eufy accounts but it’s clunky

One shared eufy account is best, unless ur within 3kg of each other then that’s clunky too

Also the scale stores measurements on board , and can associate those with a profile, handy to be able to weigh yourself without phone then next time you sync it will catch up.

The scale can make assumptions on whose measurement is being stored so long as those people are 3kg apart. Otherwise need to use the app and make sure app is connected, and u have the right profile selected.

Basically if you’re within 3kg , the phoneless storing doesn’t work, that could be annoying. At $34 if you have others in the house with similar figures, not crazy to buy a 2nd?

I'm still using a Wii fit board to weigh myself.
