I have this card, and using it at 1440p. A solid performer, destroys the NVIDIA 3050 which is still priced $100+ more than this card.

the 6600 XT at lowest wasn't too much more at $359 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/720597

    worth the extra for 1080/1440P?

    • +5

$30-50 more for the XT is definitely worth it.

    • Im building PC's for the kids for christmas and looking at a 3060 or 6600XT deal for $400 or less ideally. Willing to go more for a better card if it was an absolute steal. But that's the sort of build I was looking at for them.

      • +2

I'm a big fan of the mid-range AMD cards.. I think you get far better value for money out of the 6600XT in our current market. Especially if you are running it 1080p.

      • +3

6600XT is cheaper than the 3060 and performs much better. I would suggest to wait for a deal for the 6600XT and snatch it up.

U can currently find them sub $500 if u want them now such as Asrock 6600 XT or if u want ITX then this is good.

There used to be a 6600 XT for $439 at Techbuy but i cant find it anymore

Yeah I really hate that I missed out on some of the better deals. I fully expect that there will be some good deals between now and christmas so I am playing the HODL game. Bit disappointed the Intel range is massively overpriced and underperforms in a lot of areas. Was willing to give them a go otherwise.

@mxlegend99: Ur best bet and most importantly, before christmas is black friday and cyber monday sales!

            • +2

@LuslecGrace: I decided to bite the bullet and ordered 2x 6650XT cards from ebay computer alliance store. Threw in a $3 item to take it to $1001 and then used a code to get $120 off the order. So $440 per card.

One card with a $1 item could get $60 off with it. So $440 for a single card. Needed to be $1001 for the voucher to jump from $60 to $120 though

              • +1

@mxlegend99: Damn that is awesome! $440 for a 6650XT is really good, though performance wise compared to the 6600 XT its barely different but still better. Congrats and I hope they will serve you well :)

@LuslecGrace: Im almost certain they will be sub $400 between Christmas and now since I bought them. But i really want to start building and setting their PCs up now so if i have any issues with parts there's time to sort it out

I know the xx50 versions are minor upgrades but yeah $440 isn't too bad. My initial budget was $1500ish each machines. Without monitors I think i cam in under $1400. Slightly dearer than a pre-built but with much better parts. I think once upgrading the pre-built it would cost more than this build did.

                  • +1

@mxlegend99: Building a pc most of the time is cheaper than buying pre-built. I like ur attitude that u will probably find a better deal later and not regret it.

Nonetheless, I think they are at great prices (like a sale). If all you bought are new parts then I doubt there would be any problems, assuming u got the correct mobo and cooler for the cpu, and all parts go together.

                    • +2

@LuslecGrace: Oh definitely got all the parts correctly. Their builds so far:

                      Intel i3 12100f CPU
                      Gigabyte B660M AORUS PRO
                      Vetroo V5
                      Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz
                      Silicon Power P34A60 1TB 1000GB NVMe
Western Digital SN570 1 TB NVMe
                      Asus RX6650XT 8GB Dual OC
                      Aerocool Falcon-G-BK-v2 Mid-Tower Case
                      Gigabyte GP-P650B 650W 80+ Bronze PSU

I know the NVMe drives especially aren't the best. Kids will have to suffer. Been picking up parts for the past 2 months or so. Worked out those parts are just under $1300 still. So definitely done better building it myself. A prebuilt once upgrading parts would run a bit more than that.

Crazy thing is the 2 of these machines will cost about what my machine did back in February. With my 3070Ti costing about the same as these entire machines have. I jumped in a month too early.

                      • @mxlegend99: Those are really good specs and for under $1300 is the cherry on the top.
I know what a shame getting in too early, but its no worries, it'll serve u very well for a couple of good years.

    • It would be worth it if it was still available at this price. Prices for all cards seemed to have gone up the last couple of months :( I've been keeping a close eye and hodling but my GTX970 finally died and I need a bargain!

30% more power usage for 15% more performance

Thanks, got one. Good card to tide me over until next year, and will end up in a 1080p gaming machine when I find a good deal on a next gen high end card.
Seems like excellent performance per watt.

    • +1

for budget builds this is one of the best cards hands down, if not the best

  • There are a lot of these kicking around secondhand for very cheap out of decommissioned mining machines - around the $200 mark.

    • +3

Have you got any links? Seen them on eBay starting at that price but bids push it higher.

      • +2

yeah, seeing an ebay auction currently at $200 doesn't mean that is the final price. It's more likely 270-300, in which case buying this new is a way better option.

Bought this card two weeks ago and loving it. Handles 1440p gaming pretty well if you tinker with graphic settings. Also comes with super resolution for every game which does an okay 4K up scaling job.

  • Paid $490 for this card thinking i was getting a good deal

  • -3

    It's showing up as $359.00 for me/

    • +1

Why the neg? The price has expired, you should have just reported the deal as expired.
