How is yours a deal when you can get 10gig on ebay link above for less

    • +20

      Hey @Tighterthantight

      Thanks for the comment!

That's a good deal! I guess what we can offer that eBay sellers can't is:

      • Dedicated tech support and customer service
      • Moneyback guarantee on any faults with the SIM or trip cancellations
      • Our Japan SIMs are on Softbank network which is better than the link above

But it's entirely up to you what feels like the right purchase!

      -Aidan

      • +3

Our Japan SIMs are on Softbank network which is better than the link above

There are only 3 owner/operator networks in Japan, the same as here in Australia.

        From the listing:
Sim card is using Softbank or KDDI 3G and 4G networks. 4G coverage footprint of 98% and a combined 4G and 3G coverage footprint of 98.8% of the Japanese population. 3G handsets will only receive 3G coverage.

KDDI is the au network. DoCoMo has the best coverage.

          Hey @Techie4066

Wow, good find, I missed that.

            • @first in line: Hey @first in line

I've purchased from them a few times in the past (pre covid), I highly recommend them.

The sims were very easy to activate in the Japan.

Aidan is very helpful and responsive with any queries you may have.

  • Hi Aidan
How about a deal on the 6gb 15 day Asia sim?

    • Hey @Almost Banned

We aren't doing any deals on that SIM at the moment!

We will have storewide deals in the future though, so keep an eye on us (particularly on blacker-than-usual Fridays if you know what I mean ๐Ÿ˜‰)

      -Aidan

      • Thanks but that will be too late for me.

Damn! Hopefully, we can get you next time!

  • Hi Aidan,
For the 15day sim - if I'm going on the 25th and activate it will I still have internet by the end of my trip on the 3rd Feb? Given the expiry for activation is 31st Jan.

    Cheers!

    • +1

      Hey @twitchyfingers

You will be fine, the SIM just needs to be activated before that date!

      -Aidan

      • Actually I note the physical sims states it'll work in all the countries but not the e-sim. Esim has same compatibility?
Indonesia/Bali, Thailand, Malaysia, Macau, Taiwan, Laos, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea?

        • +1

          @Limbot

It does! Thanks for pointing that out, that's a mistake on our end. Will fix it up on the product pages.

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect: Just for clarity and future reference what's the difference between the South East Asia and the Japan Sims? Both show support in the same countries?

            • +1

              @Limbot: @Limbot

They are the same product we just list it as Japan on our website for google and user-friendly reasons.

@SimsDirect: Going to both Japan then South Korea for 2 weeks. Will the 15 day japan sim work in both countries?

                • @snorlax8: Hey @snorlax8

The 15 day SIM is Japan only, the 30 day option and both eSIMs work in SK though.

Let me know if you have any further questions :)

                  -Aidan

      • Still have a week before we leave but didn't want to risk slow boat to Tassie so was willing to fork out for express post (which here in Tassie is taking up to a week sometimes). SIMs arrived today. Cheers.

    • Are you saying that these Japan SIMs that are on sale is include coverage for Japan, Korea and Singapore?

      Aidan - can you confirm?

On the link it only mentions Japan.
Need Korea coverage as well as Japan.

      • +1

        Hey @pencilman

The 15 day SIM is Japan only; the 30 day option and both eSIMs work in 12 additional countries including Korea and Singapore.

Let me know if you have any further questions :)

        -Aidan

        • Does esim option chew through more data when roaming say to Vietnam? Also can i activate in vietnam as i will not be going to Japan?

          • +1

            @mlin7728: hey @mlin7728

eSIM does not chew through any more data than physical SIM Cards do.

Yes, you can activate it in any of the countries listed! ๐Ÿ‘

    • Hey @mg_k

Unfortunately, we do not offer pickup.

Do you have an eSIM-enabled device?

      -Aidan

  • Oh man so torn. Love you guys been purchasing off you for years, now a sale but at the same time want to pay full price to support you but such a great deal.

    • Hey @rosst

      Right back at ya! โค๏ธ

Definitely utilise the deal, you can support us by telling your friends and family ๐Ÿ˜Œ

      -Aidan

  • To clarify, the 6GB one is a total of 6GB over 15 days?

    • Hey @Aleigh123

Yep correct, there is no limit on how much data you can use per day.

      -Aidan

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just bought two. MULTISIM10 code on the website didn't work for 10%, but Microsoft Shopping threw in code TRAVEL5 for $5 off. Don't know if it works for one.

    • Hey @TooSerious2

      Thanks for your purchase!

Codes shouldn't be working during a sale (intended)

      -Aidan

  • Thanks for posting. What if I am transiting Via Singapore for a few days before I arrive in Japan. Will this sim work in multiple countries on the same sim?

    • +1

      Hey @BarginHunter128

The 10GB SIM and both eSIMs will work in Singapore also.

Let me know if you have any more questions ๐Ÿ‘

      -Aidan

      • Like if I land in Singapore, activate it, use it for two days then fly to Japan for another 12 days, can I use the same sim?

        • @BarginHunter128

Yep, just make sure data roaming is enabled on your device and it will switch seamlessly to the local networks as you land in each country.

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect: That is awesomeness. I was wondering what the difference was between the south east Asia version of the sim and the one for Japan specially.

Thank you for responding so quickly btw

            • @BarginHunter128: @BarginHunter128

Nothing, they are the same SIM cards! We just list the same SIM as 2 separate products for google and user-friendly reasons.

              -Aidan

  • +1

Does anyone know what the price difference is like vs buying a sim card in japan?

    • Price isn't any different. It might be slightly cheaper but from memory them not having the data/usage combination you want, having to find the outlet/vending machines, stuff around and wasting time during your holiday which may or may not work is not worth saving $5.

    • From memory itโ€™s not even $5 but with the recent exchange it could be better an even bigger saving.

    • My thoughts are for me personally that itโ€™s easier to organise pre flight, but some people are happy to pick up at the airport or get shipped to their first hotel. We are buying the eSim as it can be tethered and we will probably bring a tablet, plus donโ€™t have to mess around with the SIM cards.

  • Does the eSIM ever expire? If I buy now, would I be able to use the eSIM in one or two years?

    • Hey @aubargainer

It would be best to use it before 31/12/2023, but if you need one, we can exchange it for a new eSIM closer to the date.

      -Aidan

      • What happens if I buy the 30 days SIM card but I travel to Japan in 15/12/23, will it only work until end Of Dec or will it go into Jan 2024?

        • +1

          Hey @prankster

As long as it is activated before the expiry date the SIM will work into 2024.

          -Aidan

  • +1

Are we able to hotspot using the SIM?

    • Hey @essntialz

Yes, these SIMs are hotspot enabled!

      -Aidan

  • Pretty sure the previous company that offered these had unlimited data at low speeds

I've ordered from you guys before. And I just ordered again. But I almost didn't. You want to know why?

On the payment screen is this:
"Add tip - Show your support for the team at SimsDirect"

I'm not tipping a website and we're not America. Get rid of this garbage. Price your products according to your business costs and livable wages and get rid of tipping culture.

    • +1

      Hey @Oliver

      Thanks for your order! ๐Ÿ‘

I completely understand where you are coming from, it isn't something we do typically as Aussies, and I can see why it would deter you if you feel passionate about not tipping a website.

Honestly, this is something that we decided to bring in during Covid (as we suffered heavily as a travel business for 2 years) and it was a way for us to receive support from our loyal customers. That said, only a very small percentage of people tip, but it helps nonetheless.

I will keep what you've shared in mind, but for now, I will keep the option there for customers that do want to show their additional support.

    Hi Aidan,

I got Simsdirect giftcard that was issued back in March 2020 for a cancelled Asia trip for around $90. I was wondering if the giftcard has to be used in one go, or it can be used for separate transactions for future trips. Thanks!

    • Hey @aubargainer

Go for it. Just use the code in the discount code section during checkout. You can use as much or as little as you like.

The remaining balance will stay usable indefinitely until you've used it up on future orders.

      -Aidan

  • Thanks OP, got 3! :)

    • Hey @notewar

We have EU SIMs however they are not currently on sale.

We have ThreeUK and Movistar SIMs that roam onto different local networks throughout the EU.

Do keep an eye on us for Black Friday though.

      -Aidan

  • Thanks OP, will consider the no expiry version as won't be travelling until mid 2023
