  • Do the people that buy this also think you make friends with salad?

I do like the idea of non alcoholic beer - it definitely has its place, but not at $45 for half a slab! Most people on OzB would baulk at paying this price for full strength beer

Exactly this.. where's the money going if there's no alcohol tax on this?

      • Owner's pocket?

      • Yep, like I saw Woolworths recently trying to sell some non-alcoholic Gin for $50 a pop, like it’s just water with some flavours added, no distilling I’d imagine & no alcohol tax (so it should be comparatively cheaper).

Interestingly, it disappeared from shelves that always seemed full some two months later…

      • Hear, hear

So there is no alcohol which the govt charges an excise but its charged for the finished product so no excise, but these are double the price of beer. Yeah, that's a no from me….

  • +4

I just went and bought a 24pack of sapporo for 50 and told myself its non alcoholic

  • A 10 can pack of Pepsi is $9 at woollies, can't justify paying $45 for non alcoholic beer which is essentially just soft drinks.

  • Just a reminder that these are incredible non-alcoholic crafties from some amazing craft breweries, not your mass-market brands (ie Hahn, Carlton, Great Northern, etc). We support craft breweries that are often small businesses themselves and have been hugely impacted by COVID and the brunt of numerous lockdowns, as well as the rising cost of ingredients and materials required to continue to do what they do best.

Of course, we’d be stoked to offer our products cheaper but we don’t set the original price of the beer and many of the breweries we’ve included in this box are well-known craft breweries extending their offering to include a much-needed non-alcoholic option in their range. This means they use the exact same brewing setup and the beer is brewed in largely the same way, just that specialty ingredients are used to either halt or alter the fermentation process. A craft in itself.

And, at the end of the day, when you purchase a product from a small Australian business like ours, there’s a lot more that goes into these boxes than just the beers.

For example, we offer FREE shipping regardless of where you live, which is an absolute minimum cost of $15 to us to ship 5kg but it allows our customers to try brews they’d have a hard time finding elsewhere; it’s the packaging, the time it takes us to pack each by hand, and all the other boring stuff like maintaining storage, marketing, research, and so on.

We totally respect everybody’s opinion and choice to buy or not to buy, either way - the choice is all yours!

    Have a cracker of a day ✌🏼
    Yeah, The Beers!

    • I get all that - yes they're craft beers etc etc - however still not seeing the "bargain" - Ballistic Hawaiian Haze comes to ~$90 for 24 cans (16 can case equivalence), and that's real craft on which they've paid excise.

Concept of craft Zero beers is brilliant, price matching 4.6% beers not so much…

      • Just watch out for the secondary fermentation on the hawaiian haze

$20 off for past best before or close to it? Yeahnahthebeers

But if it doesnt have alcohol, its just a bloody soft drink, not beer!!

    • Dare I say sparkling hop water

Agree with comments about excise tax and price being ridiculous.

Terrible deal even if the beers were fresh…

    • "Little Bang Spacer American Pale Ale 17/02/22"

Is this really 8 months past best before?

      • Typo, fixed. Date was meant to be in 2023.

  • Also, if you have diabetes, no alcohol drinks are terrible as they have a tonne of sugar in them :)

  • +2

$90 for a carton on non-alcoholic beer. Thanks, bought 3!

Nort is currently $14 at woolies for a 6pack. Mornington Free normal price at Colesworth is < $15 for a 6-pack. Both of these are already overpriced.

A 12-pack of mixed non-alc beer for $45? Yeah nah..

Non alcoholic drinks should theoretically cost about as much as soft drink.

Even Bundaberg brewed drinks are less than half this price.

No amount of perceived value from brands makes this anything close to a bargain.
