  • Can I ask what DP it is? I want it to be capable for a ultrawide monitor at 60Hz (3.4k X 1.6k res, just normal windows use)

How do these compare to the Dell Micro Optiplexes, I think those had a 7500T

  • What's the weight of it?

  • no ram and sdd option?

    • RAM and SSD options in the eBay page.
      8gb to 32gb RAM
      256gb to 2Tb SSD

  • Any small form factor boxes in the sub-$100 range? Looking to make myself a baby cluster for stuffing about with, so don't really need any graphics performance or much specs at all, really. Do need gigabit ethernet though.

I picked up a 6th gen i3 one of these off FB Marketplace for $100 about a year ago, I was keeping an eye for a bit and a fair few of them were around.

      • I just poked around eBay looking for veritons based off this idea and found a Acer Veriton X4630 SFF Intel i5 4460 for $95, down to $85 delivered with an eBay voucher on the page. Only 4gb ram, and 500gb HDD instead of SSD, but should be a decent start. There were a bunch available so if it all works well I'll grab a few more for the cluster. Thanks for the oblique tip!

  • is it worth going the dell instead?

Smaller SSD, but is the Dell more reliable?

Have been running a 6th gen i3 one of these for about a year as temporary Nas. It is shockingly quiet and has been extremely stable.

  • i5-7400T CPUs don't meet Windows 11 system requirements. You may experience hardware compatibility issues and miss out on important security updates.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one for the office.

  • How easy would it be to do DIY RAM upgrade?

    • Looks like it might be toolless. Next question, would a machine like this suffer from having Single Rank RAM? I have spare 32gb from laptop upgrade.

      • Bought. I'm going to see if I can use it as a Plex server. Hopefully the HD 630 Integrated GPU works well.

        • Works REALLY well.

          • @tonyamazing: Hows the noise levels? I am looking for a new Plex server that will sit under my TV and also be used as a HTPC. Would you recommend?

            • +1

@Spootage: Very quiet. I can't measure the noise level because it's currently next to an old N36L that's humming with HDDs and a fan. I had it in a communal area whilst I was setting it up and can't remember hearing it.

I can't attest to it's ability to be an HTPC since I use it as a server tucked away in a rack, but as a Plex server it's great. CPU barely breaks a sweat since all the work is hardware accelerated. My FTTN NBN bandwidth is my bottleneck when streaming remotely.

It won't take much storage, though. One sata drive and one m.2 (from my memory). My Plex storage is on a NAS.
