I've always been a huge fan of the booze cashbacks but recently cashrewards didn't track a BWS order and then declined my manual redemption claim. Couldn't believe it. The usual crap about adblockers and blah blah blah.

No way I would have bought the order without the promised cashback and got declined for bullshit reasons.

Can't trust cashrewards I'm afraid. Probably get downvoted by people who haven't had this happen to them - but maybe it hasn't happened YET.

Are the other ones (shopback etc) as dodgy as CR?

I haven't had an issue with CR and BWS. I always use the CR app and use mobile date to ensure correct tracking

      • I figured there would be a bunch of replies saying 'I've never had an issue' - but using the app sounds like good advice. I can't imagine 'tracking' can fail in the mobile app.

I hate shopping in apps but can make a list on desktop and punch it in on the app afterwards.

    • I'd say they are similar with tracking failures etc. through the browser extension. But I've never had any issue with orders (for SB or CR) when done via their apps. BWS website is glitchy too which may have compounded the issue for you - it is not compatible with the browser extensions.

      • I find it incredibly frustrating when it doesn't track but when they denied my purchase outright I was pretty stunned. I did the manual claim and they straight up told me to walk.

Can't trust a company that doesn't act in good faith. I've got a long history of transactions with CR and it looks like they like to try it on with people every now and then.

If it happens for SB, the rep on here (gotyourback) is very good at sorting it out personally. Not sure if CR has an equivalent rep who could help?

But yeah, steer clear of using cashback through the browser extension.

          • @werdplaya58: Basically they said the decision was final so I could take a walk. It's only $20 but I only noticed it because I had a scroll through my history and saw it was declined. I had to manually submit it because it didn't track.

All that hassle to buy something I would never have bought otherwise.

Find it pretty hard to trust them after that. Definitely not with bigger purchases!!!

I might try shopback but my gut says they're all the scammy same.

@krunchymoses: Again, I've had the same thing (right down to the final decision) but for SB, and the rep on here was still able to sort it out. Not recommending either but just saying that if there is someone equivalent for CR on Ozbargain they might still be able to look into it. Worth a shot but agree, the standard 'process' for both is generally not very good.

              • @werdplaya58: That sounds good. I am a bit sick of having to set a reminder for 7 days to do a manual submission (maybe 25% of purchases don't track) and then waiting 100 days to check that they didn't stiff me at the end.

  • Also - just for clarity - the reason why CR denied my claim is that they believe another cashback service received a commission for the sale.

I am not a member of any other cashback services. None. Not even a signup.

A completely cooked response. They blamed BWS. Sounds like nonsense to me.

Hi. Just two things here. Cashrewards does not deny claims, the merchants do. Further, the response from our support staff was probably around attribution to another channel. This will occur when you have 3rd party plugins such as Honey, AdBlock etc installed, or when you use any unlisted codes. Please advise if you're referring to a BWS transaction from May 12. Unless I'm mistaken, I've been able to find your CR account based off your username and the only click to BWS was on that date, and the transaction is definitely approved. Look forward to hearing back (feel free to PM me). Cheers.

      • That's right - they claimed BWS denied the claim due to another redemption. That's why I made it clear that not only do it not have other extensions (and adblockers are disabled whenever I use CR - that's the first thing you're told to do) but I also have no other cashback accounts (multiple accounts are a hassle tbh).

I'll DM you now and forward you the email chain. I'm not dreaming this one up - and I doubt I'm the only one that's had this experience with CR.

Had a good outcome with TA here. Moral of the story is - TA's here to help.

  • Can someone please do the maths. Just wondering if it's worth using the Coles docket promotion to buy 3x cases of Ashai for $50 each, or buy 3x cases online for $54 click and collect and get the 12% cashback. I still get flybuys either way?
