Is this waterproof?
Premium full grain leather, hence would be yes, just spray them with something like that
Not this one. For waterproof you need one with Gore-Tex membrane, or TimberDry which is Timberland's proprietary waterproof liner but less breathable than Gore-Tex.
Depends on the use case. Are they after rain waterproof or river waterproof… :-)
Decent price. Official site listing: https://www.timberland.com.au/men-s-pro-ballast-6-inch-steel…
Look good but how wide are these? Anyone have experience with these? How would a NB 4E person go in these?
I didnt know us wide foot boys are 'nb 4e' people lmfao
I have a very wide size 9.5US foot. I LOVE New Balance 4E shoes they are just so comfy.
I generally get New Balance 4E but have found Asics are good too. Depends on which is cheaper when I need to buy new ones I guess.
@ozbs25: 2E here and with ASICS after recommendation of Podiatrist
NB 6E here.
Keen come in wide and can recommend for a hiking boot.
Yeah, I did see they have a separate wide boot. Wondering if these are wide enough. Don't really want to buy then return.
@ozbs25: The fit is similar to NB. You could try on at anaconda.
@Spamazon: I ended up caving in and just buying a pair. Hopefully OK. Just by looking at the overhead shot they actually look kinda wide. We'll see. Can always just return them next time we go to a store.
@Spamazon: Wearing them now. Seem OK. I usually wear 4E and have to wear orthotics so have problems with lots of shoes. I removed the sole and replaced them with my orthotics which I guess means I don't get to take advantage of their "anti-fatigue technology, polyurethane footbed for shock absorption and energy return". A shame really as the sole did feel nice. Unfortunately my knees and ankles were all over the shop and I can see some sort of injury occurring pretty quickly.
I mean they are a little tight but I'm sure they will give a little. I'm also wearing Explorer Tough Work Crew socks so I guess I could wear thinner socks too. I'll wear them for a little while in the house before taking them outside. Maybe get a better feel for them over a few hours or something.
@ozbs25: I hope they're ok . Its hard to find a wide fit shoe apart from the NB. Sometimes the half size up is better. If not take them back, before you wear outside. I bought some Merrill that felt good in shop, but hurt my feet when I started to wear they so ended up giving them away.
@Spamazon: Trying them on again now. Hopefully OK. I can see why people want to have zips. Compared to my previous steel caps, these are more difficult to get tight around my ankle.
@ozbs25: Sounds like you're not 100% happy with them. Workwear hub has 20% off atm and has NB and Ascent boots in 4e.

@Spamazon: Nah, they are OK. I wore them outside today. My last pair of steel caps were a bit rough at first but ended up my most comfortable pair of shoes. I'm hoping these are similar. I don't think I'll wear them as much as my last pair anyway. Don't have the same job as before but I'm pretty pedantic about safety gear so want to have a pair of steel caps for when I need them.
Available in store?
Would you wear these casual?
Nope
Bro, this is like the opposite of casual lol
just casually fake coming straight from work
you could if you wanted. the point of casual is that it is.. casual, informal, these are about as far from formal as you can get, without going as far as thongs / crocs.
i don't know of anyone who chooses to wear steel cap boots "casually."
there are more comfortable choices for off-duty wear.
also keep in mind some venues won't allow you in if you're wearing steelies
prefer with a side zip for convenience these days.
For daily wear, no side zip no party afaiac
Great design but no side zip is a deal breaker
How do these compare with Kmart Jackaroo (have side zips) for $85?
I've been through 2 pairs of those, the zippers break very easily. And I just ripped the tounge off of my River's steel capped shoes…
They just don't make 'em like they used too.Have a gap / hole in mine on one shoe from the rubber separating. Only been 3 months, I wonder if I can get a refund
I was barely able to get a refund on my first pair, I didn't bother cleaning them up before taking them in. (In case they just chucked them in a bin straight away…) It was just garden wear and tear. One of the ladies was like, "Alright its my first day in this department." And I passed the other "lady" on my way out who said to me, "I wouldn't have given you a refund."
Never understood how/why wheat colour became popular
It's pretty similar colour to plain leather - which I remember being popular in the 80s (probably before that, but I wasn't around).
Never understood why some people never understand how other people like different colors
I've never understood why I'm unable to learn to understand why some people never understand how other people may not understand being understood.
I’m not understanding how one understands being misunderstood?
Fair enough, they look very feminine to me, like UGGs or something…. not that there's anything wrong with that.
Since when is wheat feminine lol
@nikoris: Because of coeliacs disease
anti-fatigue technology
What is this?
Anti-Fatigue Technology: polyurethane footbed for shock absorption and energy return
I was wondering why I feel so comfortable in those shoes despite them being heavy
Amphetamine impregnated materials that slowly keep you awake. Obviously
Thanks OP, just what I need, just ordered
How do we choose the other colour
There is a drop down menu.
If only the ugly orange tongue was black i’d buy a pair of these boots
I have Timberland Gore-Tex and very happy with it. Extremely comfortable and quality boots
can someone suggest a good boot for gardening and working in dirt and soil?
I would also like to read this suggestion.
I've seen these be recommended by some youtube gardeners Steel Blue
Started doing sole basic labour with a Arborist company.. current boots are shot.
Found these for $200 on clearance..
MEN'S PRO HYPERCHARGE 6-INCH COMPOSITE TOE WATERPROOF WORK BOOT
Would be keen to know if this is a great deal and a good boot.
Glad I missed out on this one
