Come and celebrate OzBargain's 16th Birthday!

Scotty will be sponsoring the event and we will hopefully have some new OzBargain t-shirts to hand out.

The restaurant will be chosen closer to the date depending on numbers but it will be in Chatswood. Due to the large number of no-shows in previous years, a $5 (fully-refundable) deposit will be required for you to secure your spot.

17/10/2022 update:

I’ve made a booking at Thai Naan (http://thainaan.com.au/). It’s ~11 minute walk from Chatswood station and seems to be a well reviewed Thai restaurant.

We will be doing the banquet menu ($35 per person) which consists of the following:

Entree
- Satay chicken
- Fish cake
- Spring roll
- Curry puff

Main
- Green or red curry chicken
- Garlic beef
- Chilli basil seafood
- Pad thai noodle chicken
- Steamed rice

To confirm your registration to the event (and so I can confirm numbers with the restaurant),
I will be taking $5 fully refundable deposits via Beemit (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/beemit.com.au).
My Beemit is @poulpe. Please write your OzBargain username in the “what?” field when you make the transfer.

24/10/2022 update:

Scotty will be coming to this meet-up and will bring t-shirts!

I've got 20 confirmed (with $5 refundable deposit) attendees so far. The restaurant can take up to 30-50 (there are two rooms depending on numbers) so there is still capacity to join if you would like. If you need alternate payment options other than Beemit, please PM me.

28/10/2022 update:

We’ve got just over 30 confirmed attendees. I’ve called the restaurant and have secured the larger private room which can fit up to 50 people, so that will be the attendance cap.

I’ve also enquired about dietary requirements and can confirm that they can accommodate all dietary requirements (e.g. peanuts, vegetarian, vegan, FODMAP). If you have particular dietary needs please PM me to let me know. It might also make sense for you to order something separate from the menu (and not go with the standard banquet).

I’ve been PMing those who have made a deposit to confirm that I have received it. If you have paid but not received a confirmation it’s likely because your PMs are turned off. So please turn on PMs if you would like a deposit confirmation.

We’re up to 45 confirmed attendees. It’s looking like we will probably reach the max capacity of 50. Will close registrations/deposits when we do. If you have dietary requirements and haven’t let me know already please PM me so I can organise it with the restaurant. Thanks!

We’re up to ~47 confirmed attendees (with a few deposits potentially in transit) so I’m going to consider this event full and will be closing registrations. Thanks to all who have registered. If you can no longer make it, please PM me and I’ll refund your deposit. Please don’t send me any more deposits but if you would like to come but have missed out please reply to this comment. I will be using this as the waitlist if anybody pulls out. Thanks!

      My exact thoughts. I used to organise a lunch time one at Ippudo. A lunch time could suit the waitlist and others who can't make it in the evening. The wife won't let me organise it this year, but I can assist where I can if you organise one.

    For those not familiar with Chatswood or this part of Chatswood, from the station go down Victoria Avenue past Chatswood Chase & Mix. It's just past Service NSW and before Battery World/Vinnies, on the other side of the street.

    I wasn't sure where it was exactly, but noticed it when I dropped some stuff off at Vinnies yesterday.

    23/11/2022 update:
    A few things before dinner tomorrow

    • I’ve had a number of cancellations and I have refunded those who have cancelled. If you can’t make it, please let me know asap. I will be issuing refunds for cancellations up until midnight tonight. (I need to confirm numbers with the restaurant so if you don’t let me know before tonight you will be forfeiting your $5.)
    • I’ve communicated the dietary requirements with the restaurant and they can accommodate all of them. For those with ‘smaller’ dietary requirements we won’t be doing anything special for you because there will still be quite a few items on the banquet you can eat. For those with more specific dietary requirements (you know who you are), you will be able to order something from the menu on the night. If anyone hasn’t communicated their dietary requirements with me, please let me know asap.
    • The banquet is $35pp and should be plenty of food. Feel free to pay for and order your own drinks if you like.
    • I have messaged people on the waitlist for those who have cancelled above. For transparency, I have largely done this in the order of the waitlist but I may have skipped some users who have attended a lot (3+) birthday events this year already.
    • I will have some prizes on the day sponsored by Creative Labs Technology (https://au.creative.com/). They have a number of sales for Black Friday as well as a coupon code which I will list in a comment below.
